View Full Version : Brakeout or Brakeout 2?
What is the difference between the two other than the Brakeout 2 requires no timing and I've read it is a better flash suppressor than the original? Is the Brakeout 2 worth the extra money? Got my AAC promo code and looking to pick up a couple muzzle devices!!
The 2 may have a port facing down depending on how it sits. If you're going prone it might not be a good thing. Maybe.
It's not as good of a break since the ports are much smaller. However it is much less annoying to those on the line with you.
I haven't shot in low light with them to be able to agree or not with the flash. You can catch original breakouts online for $70 new when they go on sale.

I have several of the AAC mounts in use with both 223 and 308. The 2.0 actually has better recoil reduction as the ports are angled to the rear. Comparing the AAC 2 chamber Brake to the Brakeout 2.0, I would say they are very similar but I think the 2 chamber brake is still slightly better in recoil reduction (I believe AAC originally said they should be the same). They are both noticeably better at recoil reduction than the original Brakeout.
Couple of comments from my experience with the Brakeout 2.0.
Angled ports: With the Brakeout 2.0, the ports will kick some gas toward the shooter. This doesn't bother me with the 223, but I find it annoying shooting the 308 prone and off a bench.
Timing: You do not need to time as ports in the design are balanced, but I would avoid placing one of the ports directly up if you are concerned about low light shooting. I was comparing 2 ports down (45 degrees to ground) vs 1 port down (straight down) for how much dust would be generated prone. With 2 down and 1 up, the upper port is pointed directly at any optic and is quite blinding in low light when viewed through a 10 power scope. Found that out one evening.
Flashider performance: Nothing surprising. My experience was not as good as an A2 style or vortex hider, but better than a 2 chamber brake. Never did a head to head between Brakeout and Brakeout 2.0.
Edit: The 308 experience is on a 16" AR-10 not a precision platform, so quite a bit of flash and gas are present.
Thanks for the info gents [Beer]
Think I might order one of each.
