Showtime is getting ready to launch a six-episode reality show called "Lock
'n Load". Yep, it's about guns and gun owners. According to the network's
website, Lock 'n Load offers a "fly on the wall experience at 'The
Shootist' gun store in Englewood, Colorado."
According to their material, "LOCK 'N LOAD" "doesn't take sides or argue a
political perspective. Instead viewers on both sides of the issue will be
able to watch Ryan, a born salesman, wield his patented quick-draw humor
and inherent likeability in each exchange, making jokes and big-ticket deals
over blasts echoing from the firing range down below."
The whole process will be done using hidden cameras and only revealed to
the participants after the transaction is complete.
"America," the promotional site says, "is and will probably always be
fascinated with the gun culture in our country and this show will help to
explain why."
OK, I'm interested, but I'm also skeptical. It may be unfair, but for some
reason, knowing that Showtime is owned by CBS doesn't assure me the show
"doesn't take sides or argue a political perspective."
But I do love the promos.
