I don't know much about salt flat racers. Is the black square mounted to the differential so you can push start it with another vehicle, or is it some sort of protective plate?

The lakester looks very doable. Current record is 254.685 and was set 18 years ago. That makes it a good one to go after. I know many that have been bitten by the bug even if it is just for fun.[Flower]
