Short comings of being unable to achieve the skill(s) you have soooo much passion for.

The lack of funds, time, knowledge, etc..... is what stops us... but for the most part we have a taste of what we can do and reach a certain level, and we enjoy what we can do with what we got and can do.... It's still alright to dream though [Beer]

What's your's?

Let me start with a few [Coffee]

Well, I don't have any footage of Hoser or TimK shooting LR comps, but here are some I could only dream of reaching...maybe in another lifetime. [Flower]

I miss going fast... funds is the only thing stopping me on this one.

I love music and playing guitar, but damn... I wish I could play like this regular Joe. I've tried to advance this far finally being sober (sober of hard shit for 14 years), but these old fingers can only go so fast.[facepalm] By the way, This one's for you Ridge [Coffee]

.. and then this... We have no waves up here brah [ROFL1]... but this one really puts tears in my eyes... I miss the ocean and surf.

I never had any interest in surfing until a recent vacation and my wife and I took a lesson.
Man, it was fun.
Man, it was tough.

Hope to try again someday. :)

Not sure what I have passion for but no time and money. I like to ride bikes all the time. I'm not winning many races especially lately, but I'm just glad to be out there, all things considered.

Whatever, Mike - you're damn good on the guitar! I would like to get another band together, even if it's just one of those old-fogy bands that play in a crappy bar that no one listens to.

Getting back into racing would be fun, but I'm content taking trips on the bike with my wife. Maybe that mindset will change next season.

I'd like a pilot's license. Flying is so much fun!

I've been paddling for about 14 years and have run ( and swam ) some nasty creeks. I've had a chance to boat with these fellas and they have something you have to be born with. God I wish I was this good. Yule Creek.

Racing a newer/faster bike and having the time and money to dedicate to the sports so that the only track isn't just race weekends. Oh well being able to race is better than nothing at all

Love erock's stuff! (The "My Little Pony meets metal" guy above)

Hrm, three things come to mind:
1. Wish I could snowboard. But having grown up skiing, I just can't. I've tried a few times, can't even stay up on the board.
2. Wish I could fly. Like the people above.
3. Wish I could be a politician. OK, that sounds weird, but sometimes I get so sick of the "politics" that goes on, I wish I could get elected and try to change the culture. Sure it'd mostly be ineffective rabble-rousing, but I'd try dangit :P

I'd like to try the wing suit thing like Jeb Corliss. But it would take years to get into skydiving/BASE jumping traveling the world etc and it just isn't in the cards, especially with how your mindset changes when you have children.

A lot of things I wish I could do that I lack physical abilities for but things I would like to do and could physically but lack the time or funds for:

Sail around the world in a wind-powered yacht
Drive and camp my way across Europe/Africa/Asia
Spend a year at McMurdo Station
Do a "Phineas Fogg"
Learn to be a working cowhand (okay, would probably need to work out and lose some weight before I did this)
Fly winged, rotor, and lighter-than-air craft on all seven continents

Thats a unique, cool one. I don't know if I'd trust some of the equipment out there in different countries. My grandfather use to rent aircraft wherever he went on vacation. Times have changed a lot. Make sure your up on your engine out procedures.

You can see Kevin Schwantz do full-lock sliding in this one. Kevin was the guy I wanted to ride like. Nothing on earth is more fun than running a motorcycle through the turns at your limit, having to buy new tires because the sides were worn out but the middle still had tread. I cherish those memories on the Peak-to-Peak, St. Vrain North and South, Loveland Pass, Squaw Pass, Deckers, the old I25-to-36 lefthander, and a host of other places. Just being on a motorcycle in the mountains doing 100+ everywhere you dared...nothing like it.

http://youtu.be/PHtdy43O0Xg

http://youtu.be/duRtd3i9YPo

Of course I wouldn't do any of that nowadays, too much traffic and too many inattentive drivers, back when I was being reckless no one had cell phones and texting didn't exist.

To many very, very, very talented riders out there for sure... and they keep that cray cray (to the normal eyes) on the track.... I miss the burning sensation in the eyes trying to keep up with the local experts on the track.... of course that's after being lapped once or twice [hahhah-no]

Well... what made me decide to come up with this thread..... I've been thinking.... a new year is around the corner.

"The Bucket list" of things or even one thing to try and cross out... and maybe get at least a feel for it again or even for the first time.
I know shit like F1 racing is out of the question, but going to a go-cart track that rents out shifter carts is probably going to get you closer to that experience than you think.

... but one day... one day... I maybe able to out shoot Hoser and TimK in a match, and using this new shampoo might do the trick [ROFL1]

Irving

I was thinking of starting a similar thread, but mine was more stuff like what you CAN do in the next 12 months. Here was my list.
- Move up from Marksman in IDPA.
- Shoot a state match.
- Beat my 5k time of 25:00 min.
- Refinance my house.
- Get my business officially off the ground.

All those are so realistic (boring) that I could probably take care of the whole list in a month, rather than a year, so I didn't bother starting the thread. This one is more exciting.

Yours seem at least obtainable. I don't care if I saved 160 a shot like Sullenbuger....I'm probably never gonna get my hands on a P-51. I'd settle for a ride though. That's achievable.

Realistic things:
Run a 10k in under my age (53) minutes
Get my 12 year old to run with me
Get my bow shooting strength up to 70 lbs
Shoot an elk with my bow
Get practicing music again and play some shows

Cool, impossible stuff:
Do a HALO jump
Throw a grenade in a pond
Play the violin like Paganini, or at least well enough to play some Paganini
Get my 12 year old to quit wanting to play Minecraft all of the time

I'm going to add these to my list now too. Wife and I were thinking we might try and see if daughter has any interest in running. I doubt it though, I didn't have interest in running until I was like 26.
