View Full Version : Can someone familiar with muzzle loaders help a brother out?
I have a co-worker that knows I'm a firearms hobbyist. He's asked me about used value of a T/C Triumph .50 cal with a black synthetic stock and blued barrel that was only fired once.
I've been Googling the crap out of the interwebs with no luck. The auction sites are nuts with their pricing. I can find these guns new at some times for 1/3 the price. I can't find a forum that caters to these arms. Can someone please provide a bit of guidance? I hate to let the guy down with no info.
Thanks.
PM encorehunter, he should know.

From the T/C web site: https://www.tcarms.com/firearms/muzzleloaders/triumph $456 new, so I don't now, my guess would be $400, but I haven't priced used BP rifles in a long time. I love shooting these things.
Caliber : .50
Finish/Stock : Blued/Black Composite
Barrel Length : 28"
Breech Plug : Speed Breech XT
Capacity : Single Shot
Length of Pull : 14"
Overall Length : 42.5"
Weight : 6.5 lbs.
Rate of Twist : 1:28
Ignition : 209 Primer
Sights : ADJ. F.O.
Model # : 8503
MSRP : $456
That model can be had for $400-430 new with ease. Maybe cheaper when places like cabelas knocks off $100-150 during sales.
resale value on a muzzleloader really isn't that great on in lines. Just not the demand for them and they are easy to purchase at cabelas on sale etc.
my real world starting point would be $300-350.

$300 tops IMO
Thanks, guys. You are a wealth of information.
I was able to find one classified add on a muzzle loader forum in TN or KY that was looking for $300 and dropped his price to $275.
I told my co-worker that $300 was a good place to start and that he might be able to sweeten the deal with propellant and projectiles.
Thanks again!
