Turns out I have a bunch of time off this month. Been hunting yotes all year but my buddies are all busy. Always looking for another addict to share the pursuit.

I always wanted to get into it, but what do you do with the Yotes? Sell the pelts, or just toss the pups away like P-dogs?

Recycle the mangey ones and sell the good ones

that right there is a good looking coyote. The last bunch that I sold, about two weeks ago, I averaged $26.66/ea. in the round frozen. I had two that sold for $35./ea., and they didn't look as good as that coyote you're holding up.
I'll be after 'em hard again this coming weekend for 3 days, but I already got 2 guys going with me. Then the big Midwest calling contest in a couple of weeks, gotta stay sharp for it.

I can't wait until my son can go with me but until then I am pretty much on lockdown to go as often as I would like! Congrats on the coyote! Hopefully Ill get out a couple times at least this winter!

Wish things would of worked out in Colorado sooner I'd joined you, heading to Kansas for Christmas for some calling on the farm.

I use to do a lot of it in the south. I got word Monday a week ago my hunting buddy had died in a single car accident. I went looking for pics to use at his funeral and the only one I could find was this one....

Glad you started this thread. Just got an email from a buddy back east, he wants to come out and hunt some yotes.

I've never been, would like to get into it...I'm game to get started with other newbies.

How do we start?

Didn't get any free time in February to do any hunting. Sent my Foxpro in for some repairs so that will keep me away too. Fishing will probably take over now as the ice melts. The Spinney opener is always on the calendar.
All you newbies should try and watch all the You Tube videos that are offered on yote hunting. There's tons of useful info there. The ones with the decoy dogs are amazing! Good Luck!

Where/ who do you sell them to?

Petska Fur is the buyer I sell to. You can look up their website for routes and times where they are buying. They have a couple of different Colo. routes and many locations where they stop. I sold 11 more yesterday and averaged just under $35./ea. That was with one $20. coyote and one at $40., and everything else at $35.
All you have to do is freeze them whole if you don't want to skin them. This is how I do it. I have a chest freezer that I fill, because the fur buyer only comes through every two weeks. If you only skin them, leave the fur green, you only get another $2. But if you finish them out completely, they would be worth about 3 times the value.

How do you bag them up for the freezer? I don't think I could get 11 in my freezer. Do you spray for fleas? Do you thaw them for Petska?

trash bags, left open, no need to tie them shut. Only reason to bag them is to keep them from freezing together. I don't spray for flees, I don't thaw them out for the fur buyer. I have a chest freezer that I use solely for this purpose, but as cold as it's been lately, a guy doesn't need a freezer.
Several guys that I know have adopted the bag and freeze method. Even if a guy only killed ten all season and made one trip to see the fur buyer at the end of fur season, it would be worth it.

I went out night before last, but I think they were all smart enough to stay in their warm dens. I froze my butt off.

You can throw some moth balls in the bag for fleas & mites.

I have wanted to go for over two years now but don't have a clue where to start or how to go about it. I would need to get my small games lenience but other that I would be game. I live in falcon Co and not sure how to go about finding places to hunt those predators. Would love to have a guide and partner to show me the ropes.

If you can afford it get a full mount. You won't be disappointed.

good for you man. They are hard to come by, especially for those of us that only call on the eastern plains. Heck, we only got 7 coyotes this weekend(and a visit from the local game warden), and I'd trade them straight across for one cat;)

They are all over our daughters property. In CA ;) a 3-1 ratio v. coyotes

it did. Young guy but my friend did not have his hunting license on him and the guy didn't make a fuss about it and he didn't check my tax stamp for my suppressor, even though it was obvious he could've. Nice visit with him and we parted ways.
