Any personal preferences, comments or learned knowledge on these 2 when compared?
A true Colt 1911 is a military gun produced between 1911 and about 1927.
There is a reproduction by Colt that is a very faithful reproduction of the the 1911 military. There are very good guns. Great finish, longer trigger, shorter grip safety, flat mainspring housing, larger fixed sights. Value is about $900 asking price.
The Colt 1991 is a lower cost version of the commercial Colt Government model. It has a less expensive finish, arched main spring housing, shorter trigger, longer grip safety. It has the Series 80 firing pin block. Value is about $600 asking price.
My preference would be the 1911 reproduction.

Thanks for the info. Going with the 1911 reproduction was my line of thinking as well.

The frame was grooved from the grip going into the trigger gaurd as well. I like the repro a bit more.
