Getting a wild hair and thought, if I'm going to build/buy an AR-10, why not make it a cartridge worth doing.
The 6.5x47 Lapua is supposed to be close to a ballistic twin to the 6.5mm-06 and the 6.5mm-284.
With the high BC bullets it is supposed to rival the 300 Win Mag for energy and less bullet drop at 1000 meters.
Does anyone make these... Or.. Do I have to do it all on my own?

I've got an AR-10 in 260 Remington. Very similar cartridge.
Runs GREAT.
I would do it in 260 over the Lapua.
Expensive brass in a gun that is hard on brass and throws it isnt my idea of a good idea.
260/308 brass is easy to find and cheap.

I bought a bunch of once-fired Lake City 308 brass a while back when MidwayUSA had it on sale.
I've been using the 120gr SMK. It doesn't have a very good BC compared to other 6.5mm bullets.
I suppose if I sat down and ran the number I'd probably find this combination isn't really superior to 308 Win.
It sure does shoot well though.
I'm going to have to agree w/the above posters about using the 260 Remington. I think it would serve you best in an autoloader. I'm planning on switching mine to this caliber if I ever get that 308 bbl burned out.
I'm working on a bolt gone and am still trying to figure out which I'd rather use for it, 65-06, 6.5-06AI, .65-284, 6.5-284AI, 260, or 260 AI. So many choices.

Found out that DPMS is making almost a 6.5 Lapua in the 6.5 Credemore.
Here's a link to an article by Zach Smith comparing the 6.5 C, Lapua, & 260 Rem:
