You'll never convince me that the winter solstice is the first day of winter. It makes as much or more sense to call it the first day of spring.

Anyway it is a good day to celebrate the Return of the Sun.

I am very glad to see the days getting longer. If I lived much further north, I would have gone friggin postal many years ago. Seasonal Affective Disorder (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seasonal_affective_disorder) sounds like new age bullshit, but it just used to be called cabin fever...

Do we even have seasons in Colorado? I mean, there are "Months where it's less likely to snow" and "Months where it can snow or it can be hot or it can do both in one day," but nothing really defined per say. :P

Yes, we have the four seasons and as you noted, sometimes all in one day!
