Or near there? Wondering about general cost of living, what the weather is like, etc?

BAD:
Crime
Weather
Humidity (summer and winter)
Bugs
Lake effect snow

GOOD
Cost of living
Lots of green (trees/grass) once outside the city
Lake Erie if you enjoy boating or fishing (walleye/perch)
Great assortment of authentic Italian and Polish food
Cleveland Clinic health care system

All i know i learned from Bowling For Soup ...

She said she needed a break
A little time to think
But then she went to Cleveland
With some guy named Leland
That she met at the bank

There's nothing wrong with Ohio
Except the snow and the rain
I really like Drew Carey
And I'd love to see the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame

Lived in Euclid which is just east for about 6months and it sucked. I was there in the middle of winter and cold doesn't begin to describe the air that comes off that lake in Jan. and Feb. down town Clevland is fun, plenty of things to do and sights to see. The country is really nice out East a ways and it was really nice in the spring. Crime was high in the area that I was. Shootings and high sipped chases on a daily. A buddy and my self where walking down the frontage road on our way back from the bar late one night, a cop pulled up asked us why we where walking in that part of town at that time of night (both of us white) told him we had been drinking and didn't want to drive. He told us to get in the car, he was driving us home before something happened. Met a lot of good people and got a really good job offer out there but just couldn't see myself setting up shop in Ohio.

Stay out of downtown Cleveland. It has gotten better, but there is a reason it is known as "The Mistake on the Lake."

If you have a job that pays well, it can be a good place to live. Easy flights to anywhere on the east coast and Chicago isn't too far for a quick trip. Think Pittsburgh with more wind and a big lake.

If you are originally from Colorado, you miss the plentiful sunshine almost anywhere you go.

Weather is fine, it gets a bit chilly in the winter to where you might need a long sleeve shirt under your jacket, but it's nothing terrible. Cost of living is a lot better than here, there's plenty of fishing on that large body of water, hunting for deer and turkey is pretty good once away from large cities. Though like most large cities there are places you just don't want to go, parts of it are just like Detroit in crime aspects.

I mistakenly drove through east Cleveland and lived to tell you about it.

I was lucky.

I only spent a week there working and could not ever imagine living there. If I had to live in Ohio, Columbus might not be bad. Also worked there for a week and it was OK. Seems like you can get a lot of house and property there for little money.

I don't know Mayfield, but Willoughby is nice.

Haven't been there since the '70s... even then when my mom made a trip downtown for some reason, a perp hid behind her car, putting a gun on her hood to point it at the cops chasing him... (using the front of her car as cover when she was at a stoplight)

she ran the red light, and made my father do the downtown errands after that.

The 'burbs were pretty nice- at least back then... we lived in Cleveland Heights- but what does an 8yo know about living conditions anyway? Alaska was way better.

Only time I ever heard shooting in the street was in Cleveland, it was the 70's and and had something to do with a White truck plant strike. The company is now defunct...
