Reported outage comes amid an escalating war of words with United States

Sounds like the U.S. is trying to spank nKorea, but I don't think they really care much.

NK is to busy messing with Sony.

I would imagine interrupted internet service would pretty much go unnoticed by about 98% of the population of NK.

N. Korea doesn't really care much what we think and they probably have a shit load of nukes already aimed at us, just waiting for Dennis Rodmans good ole buddy to press his index finger on the big red button. Well let's hope not!

I think the only people that may care in the smallest are the generals and the dictator, their Netflix is being interrupted.

I still think China will annex North Korean like Russia did Crimea. You think the US will intervene?

Nope. I think the South Korean side will get over-run with refuges from the north fleeing the invasion, that by itself would keep us pretty damn busy.

NK's connection to the interwebs should just be snipped where it leaves their control. Only their government would notice.

I dunno. If, in fact, it was the US that disrupted the service it could be a pretty strong message that we can probably make their lives worse (if that's even possible) than they can make ours. Hack into Sony, we remove your entire online capability. I'd be pretty surprised if this was just brushed aside by the N Korean gov't.

More likely the Starbucks location in Seoul rebooted its wifi router.

If we are doing it, we need to crash every system we can, wipe clean every bit of data and cripple their I-net as much as possible. Hopefully hack into their missile command and order self destruct on every one of their weapons.

I highly doubt it was us. Why "show our hand" over something like this? Whoever, whatever caused this will now have all those holes closed so they just gave up their secrets.

My guess? It was North Korea themselves. Publicity stunt to try and blame it on us.

Pompous little dictator probably tripped over power cord trying to learn Gangnam style.

The media is reporting widespread internet outage in North Korea? I'm more surprised at the fact that there is "widespread internet" to be had anywhere in North Korea.

Probably a 15 year old in his moms basement in Baltimore who got tired of jerking off to that song where the guy in the suit rides the invisible horse so he decided to have some fun. Compared to some of the things that have been hacked I wouldn't think NK would be that hard.

Yeah like 2 people. I can't imagine even hundreds having access and access must be so heavily censored that your search engine is really a NORK commissar.

Exit question: I wonder if google and mircorsoft have assisted NK setting up internet filters and locating dissidents like they do in China.

Nah NK can't afford their services.

It would actually be pretty difficult to hack the SCADA systems or infrastructure of NK because all their equipment is so antiquated.
