So I have a CMMG MK9 lower, how does the mag supposed to seat? Does my pictured look normal? Using ASC mags

looks right to me. Your next item to check is bolt clearance to ejector, WITHOUT loaded mag installed.

Check the bottom rear edge of the feed ramp piece. Some of them have a lip that catches the mag. It would hold the front edge of the mag even with the top of the lower receiver.

Did the loaded mag in a hurry for a picture. Reason I ask is that its problematic with hollow points, light primer strike, ftf. Magazine is pretty loose to where I can wiggle it and it'll come off without upper installed. I'll check everything once home and unload the mag.

Can you increase tension by turning the mag release button?

I have an issue with my bolt not wanting to lock back on last round, I think it is due to the mag followers (orange plastic ones). Does yours lock back? What followers do you have?

Part of that is weight of loaded mag to lower mag well. They have slight give as mags come in different overall dimensions, like an AK. There is no MIL SPEC for 9mm mags. They may say there is however with so many mfg again , like AK mags it's not a 1 size fits all. Perfectly ;)

Thanks for answers. I have the plastic orange follower, my bolt locks back all the time when its empty. The mag wobble made sense what Great-Kazoo said. Aluminum and brass ball ammo goes through fine, not the case with hollow points, even have the Wolff XP spring too seeing if it helps but no luck.
My build consists of:
Complete CMMG lower
CMMG Ramped Bolt
Adco 7 inch barrel, BCM upper

Are you saying that the mag drops loose off the mag catch?

Spikes Tactical makes a 9mm mag catch that engages a little deeper into the mag.

The only difference between the Spikes catch and a mil-spec catch is the thickness of the catch where it attaches to the threaded rod that goes through to the button. The latch will engage the mag a little deeper if you take metal off the underside of the crosspiece. My measurement of several mil spec catches had that thickness at .155 to .157. The one Spikes I have measured is .142. I carefully filed the underside of the crosspiece to get one to engage further. I don't remember if I am running the Spikes or my hand filed catch. I don't remember why I did the deeper latch, I think I was having an occasional mag drop down.

It sounds like you are have some problems when you shooting it so you can ignore the next comment- DO NOT trust A-Zoom dummies when trouble shooting. I have had several times when A-Zoom would malfunction when testing but live rounds function fine. They aren't shaped or dimensionally the same as a live SAMMI spec round.

Good Luck

Yup on one mag I can wiggle it and it'll come off without upper installed, so maybe its just that mag. I've looked and seems like spikes only have 9mm buffer, mag block and spacer left and not making anything else besides that. I do see a lip under the feed ramp but mag never touches that lip.

I had a hell of a time with my ASC mags. One if my 9mms wouldn't run them at all, The other one had zero issues with them, HP or FMJ.

over the years I added metalform mags and have NEVER had any issues in either gun.

Im out in Frederick, but make it down to westy every once in a while. If you want to see the fit of a metalform in your gun, we could meet up.
