My son very nicely updated Dad's antique senior entertainment center. New desktop speakers, new widescreen monitor.
As a bonus a Kindle Fire TV box which is pretty cool if I remember it has a voice activated remote search function. Not a bad haul !

Wife told everyone she had a surprise for Christmas this year. It was a limo ride on Christmas Eve to go look at Christmas light around town. Pretty good time.

35mm prime lens for my new (used) D7000
Several new Hoya HD filters
Spare battery and some small parts the camera needed
North Face Apex Bionic coat I've had my eye on (from my Son and DIL - she works PT at REI for the discounts)
Zombie Slayer bb/pellet pistol kit
1.75L Gentleman Jack

dumb stuff was mostly a generic brand range bag (duh, I have like a dozen already) and a Case Logic DSLR/laptop backpack that's way too small for my laptop.

PSA folks - backpacks and gear bags are kinda personal unless you know someone has NOTHING and you have some experience with what works.

Already posted in the recent purchase thread, but this is probably the more appropriate spot for it.

Front Bilstein 5100 height adjustable shocks. I set them at 2.5" and I've got a 1.5" add a leaf waiting to go in once I get rear shocks.

Also got a couple long sleeve shirts from grandma, now normally it would go in the bad gift thread, but she actually did good on these ones. Either her taste is getting better in her old age, or my old age is worsening my taste lol.

Upper end toaster oven, and some needed kitchen stuff like pots and casserole dish, shit like that.

Some other smaller gifts that were cool.

I think the best thing was how well the wife and I got along, even when dealing with MIL and some of her needs yesterday.

i have never ridden in a limo.

It's kinda overrated, but still worth experiencing at least once. I did that for the wife one year a long time ago, and it was a hit for sure.

Yeah I've wanted a 4 door first gen Tacoma since they came out, and my last Cherokee wasn't exactly what I wanted for reliability when my first son was born. Thinking about trying to find a late model good condition unmodified XJ as a 3rd vehicle/snow rig for the wife tho.

It's very overrated. Make sure if you ever ride in a limo, you aren't the one paying for it. A good party bus is a good time, if you're into getting hammered in a bus and not being able to pee until you stop some where. There are a LOT of crappy limos out there. They smell like puke or are beat up or something.

Let us know how this ammo broom works. Also let us know if you guys think people will call me an a-hole if I start showing up to matches with an ammo broom. You know, to help recover brass for other people.

Don't pick up brass for the assholes, it's that easy. Or charge them, recoup that STUPID investment of yours. 2nd stage, EVERYONE will be asking for your help.

My aunt gave me my grandfather's old Iver Johnson .38 S&W top-break 5-shot pistol. Near as I can tell, I think it's an early second generation (2 patent dates on the heel of the pistol grip, 5 digit SN without alpha code, 2-prong rear sight), maybe 1906-1908 manufacture? Finish is severely worn but it was my grandfather's so better than if it were cherry.

Not my gift, but I thought it could go in this "feel good" thread: http://www.foxnews.com/us/2014/12/30/pennsylvania-boy-goes-hunting-in-south-carolina-after-asking-wrong-sheriff-to/

snippet: A South Carolina sheriff offered on facebook to teach a kid how to hunt (I guess some kind of "I'll pick a random comment to choose who gets to hunt") and a single mother of a 9yo in Pennsylvania saw it, but didn't know it was for a same-name county in SC. Sheriff picks him anyways and they flew him out to SC, bought him all the hunting gear (he borrowed the sheriff's rifle) and they went hunting for 2 days.

skeptic: how did the mom not realize it was a different county when they sent the letter addressed to SC and not PA?
