And I'm finally going to get the ball rolling on getting my permit. Got everything gathered up and filled out today. Now I need to see what my work schedule looks like so I can make an appointment to go to the sheriff's department. Hopefully I'll have my permit right around tax time.

Make sure your getting the Adams County regs off the sheriff's web site ! I went with the state regs and got side railed because I didn't have the proper stuff with me when I went.

Thanks for the tip. Going through the official Adams county website. Even watched the video outlining the process.

Once you get your permit, don't forget the Mandatory Wally World Walk.......

You should also Apple for Utah and/or Florida. Gives you a few more states. And it's cheaper than CO (at least UT is)

When I did the Wally Wolrd walk I had my Sig P220 OWB under an untucked button down shirt, and in the freezer section I notice in my reflection that my shirt got all bunched up and my Sig was clearly visible. I clamly covered it up, but I was surprised none of the folks that passed by had noticed.

Others will ill notice, but few will say anything. I always try to let people know if they are printing badly or are exposed.

I'm sorry, need clarification on the Wally World Walk. Feeling like I missed something.

Many people end up carrying at Wal-mart, or just plain going to Wal-mart for their first time carrying in public.

You know you are a CCW when the Boss asks "Why do you need to buy another holster ? You already have three....."

Just remember, never bring up the "Shoe analogy" to justify another holster.

My boss has more holsters than I do. They are just another accessory like shoes and purses to a ccw gal. Now, when I need a new holster she doesnt bat an eyelash.

Well, tomorrow is my big day. I go first thing in the morning to turn in all of my paperwork and fork over $152.50 of my hard earned money.

Pretty sure I have all of my ducks in a row. Hopefully the notarized/certified copy of my birth certificate is acceptable. Apparently my mom must have gotten it from the hospital in 1976 when I started school. Technology back then was a bit different so it isn't the best copy. Most of the pertinent information is pretty legible though.

I'm sure your birth certificate is good enough for you to be the President of the USA [Flower]

That is an expensive jacket tax.

Good luck. Be safe.

You have to provide a Birth Certificate ?? [panic] Mine is nothing but a black pc of paper with barely legible numbers. I blame the monks. ;)

Well, yeah.

I mean they give state issued ID's out to anyone. Can't trust those things to tell people who you are.

Lol. I'd guess I'm about the average age for someone applying for their permit. Half the people there were a bit younger than me and about half of them looked a bit older than me.

Let the wait begin. They said they are currently running 45 to 60 days.

Good job on getting it done. I have to renew mine next year.

Your not 45? Is your name ray? I guess that's what happens when you try to decipher someone's handle. Good luck hope all goes well.

This holster thing is WAY over hyped. It's not that tough. Just do your homework beforehand, use google, shop wisely, and buy the perfect holster. Duh.

I myself have two full boxes and a couple of safes full of perfect holsters. See? Not that tough.

I'm still open to suggestions, though...

I gave up on most of them and pocket holster (desantis) my S&W revolver.

Well, my permit arrived sometime in the last seven days or so. Looks like I'm officially one of the gang.

Pretty quick too. They said 45 to 60 days but it was more like 15. Apparently the new sheriff runs a tighter ship than the last one.

Irving
06-10-2015, 23:41
A different ship, that's for sure. They called me to tell me that while they were sending out my renewal, they were putting me on a six month check up because they didn't like my driving record. If everything looked okay, no additional tickets, then I could keep the permit. I wasn't thrilled with that conversation.
