View Full Version : A question for you computer folks
Every time I play music on my computer, windows media player downloads a bunch of pictures to my music folder. Like album pictures and stuff. I looked under the "options" thingy, but I didn't see any where to make this stop. It is really annoying. Any ideas? Sorry-not very computer literate.
Thanks,
Tristan
In WMP 10 and prior versions, right-click in the box and untick 'Show Media
Information'. It's not possible to disable it in WMP 11.
But you can delete the registry key that maintains that information.
Be very careful with this!
But the best advice I can give you is STOP using windows media player for music. It sucks balls! [Bang]
Use Winamp or some other player that doesn't FORCE you to do what it wants. I think Microcrap has a Obama complex! [Rant1]

Thanks, RRD3.
It is version 11. I uninstalled it and downloaded and tried to install version 10-won't let me. Guess I'm screwed. Says that version 10 is incompatible with this version of windows. (XP) Ugh. What's with this bold crap? Great. Now everything is in bold and the little "B" thingy above isn't making it normal. I give up on computers. They always kick my ass.
I have itunes to play music and many players to play video(e.g. powerDVD 9, zoomplayer for HD, Nero Player for certain MKV formats and to play MP4 files). I have Windows media player installed but I don't use it.
This set up works for me but its not the best setup by any means and want something simpler.
For MP 11
Tools > Options > Library
Under the "Automatic Media Information Updates for media files"
Un-check the box "Retrieve additional information from the internet"
Click "Apply"
Click "OK"
