View Full Version : Barber shop?
I'd like to do a series of photos of old barber shops, showing the interior with the owner. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated, ideally within 150 miles of Boulder, CO. The older the interior, the better. Thanks :)

Hatties in Greeley, across from.the courthouse. If it's still there, tell Stephanie I sent you. Better yet drop by and I'll ride over with you, once we get my scooter loaded up ;)

"Back in time barbershop" on 112th and Colorado. It's definitely not a real old barbershop, but he's got the interior done up real nice, and "old school" looking. Plus he's a real nice guy.
There is one near 84th and Washington that I've been in, but I honestly can't remember if it was old, or just kind of a dump. If you're running low on places, let me know and I'll swing by and check it out again and save you a drive.
Al's, on the Hill, in Boulder.
We had an old looking shop in Ned but Jimmie is now cutting hair in Salida.
There are quite a few shops on E. Colfax.
Coal Creek Barbers
711 South Public Road Lafayette, CO 80026 (https://www.google.com/url?sa=D&oi=plus&q=https://www.google.com/maps/place/Coal%2BCreek%2BBarbers/data%3D!4m2!3m1!1s0x876bf4e5f6d0ff09:0x13fddae09f1 b273?gl%3DUS%26hl%3Den)

Not that old of an interior though...
Deano's North Park Barbershop in Arvada. At 64th and Wadsworth in the strip mall. Frank and Marty own it now. 5 chairs and even an old pop machine.

Hit up The Sportsman's Barbershop on main street in Golden, definitely old school.
Piles of magazines and everything

You might be thinking of "Archie's", a little hole in the wall place. A barber, Tony, was the only person I've known who could do a flat-top. Place closed ~5 years ago, the ceramic shop next door took it over, IIRC.

Yep, that's exactly the one of which I was thinking. Tony sounds right, and it was next to that ceramic shop. Thanks.
Maybe try Elite Barber Shop on Main St. in Longmont, just north of 3rd.

Dermody Barber Shop in Estes Park.
Carrol has owned it since 1960 and was still there last summer when I stopped in.
He is a true American. He will talk guns, politics, and anything else that would be discussed here.
...... and his shop looks like what I assume you are after.
Frank's Lemay Barbers, in Ft. Collins. Been going there for over 20 years. One of the barbers is an NRA firearms instructor like myself. It just happened that way, really!

Too far to travel, unless you really want to.

You might checkout Lucky 27 in castle rock. I could see some nice shots in there.

For sure check out Elite in Longmont. They still have the shaving cream mugs from back when you had to make your own shaving foam!! But to get the scoop on the history contact Gary Knutsen (sp?) who retired from there, he can give you the story of the barber shop going back close to 100 years. Also should take a look at Garys new shop aka his garage. If you need his number pm me.
