Well, it's official:
after 11 years working as an Espresso and Coffee equipment tech, I have given notice to my employers.
Starting January 12th I will be working full time at the Silver Bullet Shooting Range, in Wheatridge.
I am taking a hell of a pay cut, but the quality of our life will improve dramatically!
Hope to see you all there![Beer]
Congrats on your life change!
It is not always about the money, sometimes it just about the quality of life and enjoying your work.

I agree it's not always about the money. I would take a cut to find a job I like. As long as the bills get paid and your happier! Congrats

Wow! Good for you. Congrats!! I think you're "enjoyment factor" will go up dramatically! Keep us posted...
I remember I met you there to purchase a firearm from you. Cool that you ended up there! Seems like a great shop when I used to go in there.
Enjoy the change in life.
I'm also in the middle of one.

Congratulations!
Working at a range and gun store was the most fun job I've ever had for the least amount of money.
Be prepared to be muzzle swept on a daily basis!

May your commute to work have an inverse relationship to your daily happiness.
Be safe.

I thought you already worked there.
I have in the past, but it was only one day a week, lead money.
Now it will be my day job [Coffee]!
That is great, like everyone else said sometimes enjoying work is better than making a lot of $$.

Congrats! I recently chose quality of life myself! You won't regret it, and if you do, lots of jobs that you'll hate will still be there.

Money isn't everything. Remember the man who loves his work never works a day in his life. Congrats!

Congrats! Wife & I will have to pay you a visit soon
I live so close to that place but have never shot there. Wonder if they would let my 6 yr old shoot his .22 there?

I believe it would be alright provided he is strictly supervised (and I know he will be!).
But it does get quite loud in there at times and maybe an outdoor place would be a better option for his young eardrums...
Can you shoot AKs there? And what if you only have 30 round mags?

Yes and yes.
It is in Lakewood, not Denver, so it's a non issue.
But no steel core or steel cased ammo.

I can understand not allowing steel core and or bi-metal jacketed bullets, but why no steel cased ? Do they not allow you to recover your brass and are too lazy to run a large magnet over the nightly sweepings before they take your stolen brass in for recycling ?

You can recover your own brass.
Nobody will steal it.[facepalm]
The rest is recycled, but apparently there are issues if even one steel case round goes through.
I maybe wrong, but I don't know of any indoor range that allows steel cased ammo.
My guess with the steel cased ammo is that they can't tell if it's steel core since a magnet would stick to it

Firing Line allows steel cased ammo, but no centerfire rifle cartridges or shotgun shells. Pistol range primarily.
Congrats!
Life is too short to miss out on stuff you enjoy.
Many of us work jobs to make money and are miserable, only to retire from it and say-Why? Why did we waste our life chasing the almighty dollar just to retire and be too broken up to enjoy our earnings?
I'd much rather have a job I enjoy and have a happy life than have the money and not be able to really enjoy myself.
Enjoy!![Beer]

I live close enough to it to be able to hear the gunshots on the range some nights.
I would do that in a second. Except for being so close to retirement age, and the pay, and the benefits. Should have done it 20 years ago. Good for you.
I do think about it, though, sometimes. Alright, every time I hit I-25 southbound in the morning. And northbound in the evening. And the rest of the day driving all over the front range.
Again, good for you!

It's the old saying "working a job you don't like, to make money you don't have, to buy thing you don't need".
I was making 50K a year (not even that much, thinking of it), but I would wake up at 4:30 AM, see the wife 45 min, be at work by 6:30 AM, never back at home before 7PM, falling asleep by 9PM at the latest...
Commute, traffic, driving out of state, on call on the weekends and, being on salary, same money no matter how much you work.
Now I work literally two blocks from home, 4 days a week, start at 9:30AM.
Yeah, I will have to cut here and there, but my stress level will benefit A LOT!
Good for you. I envy folks that can walk a way from stable higher paying job. I myself am trying to get fired so no one calls me a quitter. Seriously, I admire your choice.

Well, after spending eleven years there, starting out under a female manager [panic] (can you say CUNT?) and working may way up to service manager, I don't think anybody could really call me a quitter...Thank you all for the support and Hi-Fives![Beer]

Do not underestimate the impact that stress has on your health and close relationships. 6 months after my life change and finally getting back to feeling like myself and I'm told it's night and day to be around me. ;)

Nope, had i been on the roof, there would be no roof...[Coffee]
I was in taking care of business...
Congrats, find what you love doing and you will never work a day in your life.
(can you say CUNT?)
Can I? If you only knew...
