The Georgia Department of Corrections on Friday set a Jan. 13 execution date for Andrew Howard Brannan, who murdered a 22-year-old Laurens County deputy during a 1998 traffic stop.

If Brannan is put to death by lethal injection, he will be second man Georgia has executed in little more than a month; Robert Holsey was executed on Dec. 9 for murdering a Baldwin County deputy.

In January 1998, Laurens County deputy Kyle Dinkheller stopped Brannan on Interstate 16 for speeding, driving at 98 mph.

That was heart breaking and extremely difficult to watch. Was that another person or a dog in the cab of the truck?

White trash...I have been re-educated as to what they are with my recent relocation to the great south.

I am also one who usually questions LEO engagements, but that deputy should have pulled the trigger once he seen that rifle IMO.

He won't be shortly. Sounds like justice to me.

Tell me about it. Between the people and the weather I have no idea why anyone would want to live in the south.

Lethal injection is fucking stupid. So are these 2 decade waits.
I'm sorry, but the execution thing really pisses me off.

How so? Because it is too easy, the wait is too long, or you are against executions entirely?

Because we use taxpayer dollars to keep them alive for 2 fucking decades... food, climate control, medical, toiletries, etc... I don't have a number on that, but I know what it costs me to provide that shit for my family.
Then we use taxpayer dollars to terminate them with expensive chemicals. Which someone, I'm sure, has to be certified to administer, and their salary probably reflects it.
And in doing so, we ruin the body (I'll get to this).

If a court/jury deems someone unfit to live in society and an irreparable threat to civilization, and decides that they need to be put to death, why keep them alive just to kill them. Not necessarily on the spot per say, but you get what I mean.
Do it with a $0.12 chunk of lead... how much of our, your and my, money did we just save vs the current process?
And here's where I get a little morbid... that way the body stays generally intact. By body, I'm referring to the organs. How long do good people wait for a new kidney? How many people die every year waiting for a new heart? That could make a significant positive impact on a lot of people's lives.

This is the video we show at the beginning of every cadet class's firearms training .... Introducing mindset. Very sobering every time I watch it. I wonder how the discussion will change w/ his execution.

just get a tow rope and make a special little knot, throw the rope over the branch....however i dont think a lot of people know how to make a hangmans knot....http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hangman%27s_knot

I remember as a kid growing up in Idaho two other methods of execution. Firing squad ... Utah I believe, dad was interviewed by news station, and all for it (Garry Gilmore?). WA was a hanging state ... Although I believe they had a "tensile strength" issue w/ the ropes, and it broke above one rather large scumbag. Pretty sure OK was still electrocution, don't think gas chamber was in my 50 year lifetime.

This. 1 year MAX if the perpetrator has admitted guilt. You're not living on the taxpayer's dime. The appeals process is a whole different beast, and innocent men have unfortunately been executed, so I'm all for giving them time to appeal. But once the jury's out (hehe), that's it. Firing squad, motherfucker.

Damn that was tough to watch, very sober reminder that cops are justified in shootings, this is an example of what happens when you refrain from action due to potential future issues. Your life comes first...I am very sorry for his family, that guy was crazy and should have been perforated a long time ago...

CA built a multimillion dialysis facility for 1 life in prison member. ONE! Even worse, lifer ges head stoved in with a t.v. also sustaining multiple stab wounds. What does procedure require? They flight for life his ass to the hospital.[pileoshit]

I did a YouTube video years ago about the Deputy Dinkheller slaying. It was a tribute to a man who lost his life due to some messed up factors. Regardless, his daughter actually saw my video and sent me a really nice "thank you" message. It brought me to my knees reading it. I was completely and utterly in shambles. It was one of the greatest compliments of my lifetime. I'm glad that his murderer has finally been brought to justice. As many have said before, it should've been A LOT sooner.
