"John Straayer, a Colorado State University political science professor, said bills like Marble's crop up with some routine in the Legislature, but he doesn't see the current roster of state legislators helping Marble's bill pass. "Maybe she could get it through the Senate," he said, referring to the chamber with a narrow margin of GOP control. "But she's not getting it through the House. And I don't see the governor signing that." Straayer said it's "questionable" that such a likely contentious bill would even make it through the Senate. But it'd be all but dead-on-arrival in the Democrat-controlled House, he said."
This kinda gets me a little bit torked, she knows that each Senator only gets 2-3 bills introduced a session and she is willing to waste a spot on something that is essentially DOA. I support the bill and concept, but this is not the right time for it. I do wish her and the bill good luck.

Still a way to put politicians on record and keep them honest.

(DISCLAIMER I'm no compromise on CCW, NFA, etc.)

With that said, if I could choose any new law to go on the books, it would be a "constitutional" type carry bill. We have been trying to get my wife her ccw for quite some time now, and every time we get the funds set aside, it seems like something comes up. It's a very small sum of money for some, but why should it stand in the way of my wife protecting herself and my son's?

I'm not optimistic on the bill, but I wish it the best.

That's why I'm behind this bill- it IS Constitutional carry:

State Sen. Vicki Marble introduced a bill Wednesday to let anyone with a legally possessed handgun carry it concealed anywhere — even in schools.

Marble, R-Fort Collins, is the sole sponsor of the bill. If passed, it would allow anyone at least age 21 and in legal possession of the handgun to carry with the same rights as a person who has a concealed carry permit.

Why is it "essentially DOA"? Because some college professor, most likely a leftist, says so? I think this is exactly the right time for this bill. And, if the house can get a vote on it, only 2 democrats need to break ranks (assuming all Rs vote for it) to get it passed.

If this isn't the right time, when is the right time?

I don't see the "carry in schools" part passing...but it's also possible that was put in the bill as a bargaining chip.

+1,000 on the fees/money.

Imagine a $250 fee imposed for voting. Well, that's a right too, right? USSC ruled that the right doesn't terminate at one's doorstep so CCW is the only way to exercise outside the home.

To me CCW process is just a way for the local and state Governments to "Make" money.

If you can legally buy a firearm you should be able to carry open (currently legal with no license or fee/tax) or concealed. Never saw the actual logic in it other than "Security Theater / $$ MAKER."

While that being said; in the current state of Colorado's political climate I dont see it getting past discussed on the news briefly and groups claiming it will be the end of society as we know it. Maybe I will move to Arizona.

I will also think positive, but know it will probably be a pipe dream.

I like Vicki Marble (District 23, not just Ft Collins?), I voted for her! [Beer]

If I could talk my wife into it, we'd be there already.

Once again the comments section shows how Ft. Collins area has / is sinking closer towards a full tilt boulderfornia mentality.

This is the result of the NRA being able to give these gun nuts all the money they need to win elections!

Fort Collins will never completely go over to the dark side as long I still live here! As long as just one of us keeps the faith, we will never be lost!
