View Full Version : Chris Costa's new profession "TACTICAL CATWALK"
Once I got up off the floor from laughing my ass off. I pondered; after all these years from the MAGPUL days to the new Costa Ludas thing at what point do you say;
"NO! I am NOT doing that, I have enough money and my dignity."
Would you do this, model for a Japanese Airsoft magazine by doing the "TACTICAL CATWALK?"
You watch the video below and you see them eating it up, he is a celebrity.
I could have put this in the WTF were they thinking thread, but in thinking of the mall ninja, airsoftees, and the tactical elite should deserve this in its own thread.

Haters gonna hate. I'm not a Costa fan boy, in fact this video is the first time I've seen him, but I think most of the people on this forum, as well as the other forums I've seen talking crap, are lying to themselves if they think they wouldn't do the same thing for the amount of money he's making.
I don't know, maybe some of you already have more money than you know what to do with, but I don't, and can assure you I'd do the tactical catwalk for whatever amount he made.
You bleach an empty space?
You know it! Bleach is good for more than just cleaning up the bloodstains of your victims, you know...

I know what you are saying, but there are two sides to this story I feel.
People in general has a price. Get on the ground and act like a dog for 30 minutes for $100. How many people would do that?
I, in my own thinking, no matter how much money you offer, if it is something that goes against my principles, I am not doing it. Maybe I am part of a minority.
Celebrities do dumb things, a lot of people do dumb things, look at popularity of Reality TV for example. They look like fools, they make money, and people like to watch other people do dumb things and be stupid. Why I don't like 99% of Reality TV show, other than the "Project" shows like Tree house masters.
With Chris, while I dont know the man, he is first and foremost a "Teacher/Instructor" he is supposed to be respected. This Tactical Catwalk thing is funny to watch, YES, and people are being overly critical of him? YES.
I believe he can do what he wants, but to me if I had any respect for him in the past, it is gone now and feel he just looks like a "BIG fool" in front of those he is supposed to inspire and teach. All for money.
BTW I need more coffee.............. [Beer]

No, because I would lose respect for myself and hate my job. Life is not about how much money you make, it is how you enjoy it and reflect on it when it ends, and how i want people to remember me for making a difference positively, not the joke.

I'll have to admit...that I learned a lot about the tactical use of the AR-15, by watching Magpul's DVD's "Art of the Tactical Carbine" Vol #1 and #2 --- with Haley & Costa as instructors --- and I thank them both for it; though I much prefer doing Costa's tactical moves on a soft grassy surface than on the hard concrete firing pad we have at our range.

If Skully made $200/hr, there would probably be 20 pages worth of good deals on this board. [Coffee]
Costa taught me some more "radical grips" {support thumb over bore & pointed toward the target} that helped me control recoil much better on my tactical carbines.
Shooting is an art form...and Costa is an expert in showing-off his moves --- More power to him --- nothing shameful about putting bullets on target quickly and efficiently as he does.

............how about strutting your stuff on the catwalk showing off in his designer pants. He still looked like a fool and I had a good laugh.[ROFL2]
Since the $$$ thing keeps popping up, I wonder HOW much the magazine paid him to show up to do the show and "model" for the press?
Only Costa can wear those designer pants --- I can't --- though I believe the Japanese love the warrior mentality; because I'm seeing a large influx of oriental shooters showing up at our AGC at Marriottsville range.

Chris Costa put a post on his FB talking about "costagate" (the airsoft demo/catwalk in Japan)
http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2015/01/robert-farago/costa-costagate/ (http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2015/01/robert-farago/costa-costagate/)
Snippet:
During our pre-show briefing my hosts had requested that I speak at the show, answer questions from press in attendance, and provide a photo op demonstration at the end for the fans. Initially I wouldn’t agree to do the photo op demonstration (ironically, hesitant for the very reason this entire issue has exploded into Costagate). Frankly, I thought the idea was a bit lame, and the runway setup was slightly out of context and a bit over the top for my liking.Unfortunately my reluctance had greatly offended and disappointed my very kind and conciliatory hosts, which of course was the last thing I had wanted to do. They explained that nobody gets to shoot in Japan, and that an airsoft event like the one I attended is the closest they will have to firearms ownership. I was told, “They see pictures of you, Chris Costa shooting. This is their chance to be the one to get the photo.” They talked more about the fans, about how most of them will never get to fire a real gun, how most of them will never get the chance to do any firearms training that we get to experience here in the United States. They talked about how much it would mean for the people, and fans attending this party to be able to take their own pictures of an actual gun trainer in person.
So you guys all are going to get paid how much to go to an airsoft event? You've sold how many dvd's? Your name is recognized where?

I am recognized in circles that I choose to have it remembered, and in the manner in which I choose to have it remembered. It's a LOT of EXTREMELY hard work. We all have our Subject Matter Expertise in something, and it's what we do with it that matters.
I have been offered big $$ contracts to fix other peoples' problems. I have cancelled contracts (and lost thousands of dollars in the process) because of ideals. the most recent was a big name company, and I chose not to be affiliated with them, professionally or personally.
To me: You are the company you keep. Full Stop. Living a life of integrity and loyalty is more important than a paycheck. Full Stop.
It's not just WHAT you have, it's HOW you got it. It's not THAT you win, it's also HOW you win.
I'd have done it wearing pink leotards and a ballet tutu just to provide a little bit more for my family. The action figure is funny though....

Chris Costa (https://www.facebook.com/Official.Chris.Costa) added 41 new photos.
Yesterday at 12:41am (https://www.facebook.com/Official.Chris.Costa/posts/896909687007604) ·
Recently I had an excellent opportunity to travel over to Japan in support of their Airsoft community, and While I was there our hosts had asked that my trip mate, Jimmy Hendrix and I to participate in a few rounds of indoor and outdoor Airsoft games as a show of support for the Japanese players. In conjunction with the games, our hosts had also requested that we attend several events for the airsoft community that provided us with an opportunity and venue to partake in Q&A and photo session with the fans.
Our first major event of the trip was a welcome party with roughly 500 fans (and I mean fans). There was entertainment, and electric bugaloo to get the crowd pumped, not to mention half naked girls on stage with one girl using a whip on another girl, which to us was a bit different for a public event. Frankly, I thought the idea was a bit lame, and the runway setup was slightly out of context and a bit over the top for my liking. Unfortunately my reluctance had greatly offended and disappointed my very kind and conciliatory hosts, which of course was the last thing I had wanted to do.
Anybody who knows me knows that I don’t take myself that serious. I recognized and knew that safety measures were in place and that the fans new what to expect. I thought, what would Kenny Powers do...and in the immortal words of Bill O'Riley, I said to myself, "F$&k it, Well do it live" lol. So the next thing I knew, there I was up on stage and a little worried that my host were wrong about these guys wanting a photo shoot. The next thing I noticed-the crowd went nuts. Never would I have imagined something that simple being that big of a deal. Albeit I was hesitant, I never imagined that a 36-second clip of a 3- hour event would be taken so out of context by people who weren’t at the event or understood what was happening. Did I expect my friends to rag me later, hell YES; that's why they are my friends, but all I ask is that you please don’t take the fun away from our community. I don’t know why the Airsoft community would hold me in this regard. Maybe its all the Magpul DVD’s over here in Japan. To my kids I’m nothing more than their dad. People we read about together and hold in high regard are MOH recipients, and as you may recall, you can watch a clip of me on YouTube reading about one of my hero’s, Master Sargent Roy Benavidez.
Let us understand and not forget that our future generations play video games like COD, or MOH and progress from there by buying Airsoft weapons for simulated war games. Coming to Japan has helped me gain a better understanding of why they are so dedicated, or what we would call fervent, about the airsoft industry. This is their lifestyle relative to our lifestyle of us carrying real weapons and protecting our families. Picture an America with no weapons, and no second Amendment rights. For us this is unthinkable, and would certainly hit on a level we couldn't imagine or comprehend, not only because of the way our country was founded, but because of the lifestyle and freedom we can exercise as our right to protecting our family and community.
The Japanese have Airsoft and that is it. They play our LAPD, DEA, FBI, NYPD and branches of the military because they think those guys are awesome. Same as you I’ve cracked a few jokes in the past over the very people that want to be like us, to have our rights, and to be allowed to own and carry weapons.
I could agree I'm probably not the best person to send here to represent America and the gun community. However, just because something is new to me, I’ve never been one to back down or quit. I’ll try something new. I may fail and make mistakes, but that's how I get better. I feel we’ve done a lot of good over here. We’ve changed the way they approach the game of airsoft, and I'd like to think we’ve built a bigger respect for what they like about us and our freedoms when it comes to guns.
My parting thoughts are this: If Airsoft manufacturers could develop a gun that could survive normal abuse, I believe it would eventually find its way into Armed Defense for citizens, law enforcement, and military. This could further provide additional opportunities for force-on-force training which could be a huge benefit. I appreciate all my friends and industry partners for all their support over the last week while I was in Japan. I’m getting ready to head home my body is not in it’s 20’s anymore, that is for sure. I was happy that no one out ran me……so that one is for me.
Very Respectfully,
Costa

I'm always open to legal and ethical means of making life better for my family, even if I have to sweep my pride under the rug for a moment.
That's what I was saying too Skully... playing with toys and being silly, even on camera, for good money.... yes please.
