For those of you in the Springs who don't know about the Pikes Peak Firearms Coalition, click here: http://www.ppfc.org/
I went to the meeting tonight, and the main guest speaker was Jeanne Assam, who you recall was the female security guard at New Life Church on December 9th, 2007, that took out the wackjob who killed 3 people in the parking lot and then stormed the church.
This was the first time she had really spoken publicly about the incident, understandably she has been laying low since the incedent. KKTV news was there to capture her story. She went on in great detail about the incedent, for about 45 minutes. Her story was nothing short of amazing, and although she got a little Jesus-freaky for my tastes, I was amazed that she was able to stay calm and take out a guy armed with an AR-15, full BDU tactical gear and a backpack with magazines totaling over 1500 rounds, with a Baretta 92 9mm, at 61 feet no less, all the while there's running screaming people everywhere, and her adrenaline was on fire.
She claims God kept her safe, and if that's what she wants to beleive, then good for her. I'd like to think it was more of her 5 year background as a LEO, but whatever, to each his (her) own.
If the story is on the news later I'll post it. SHe got pretty emotional.
