I'm in the process of doing a Pvs14 build. I have a tube inbound and will be getting the rest in the near future.

My question is, is there anyone with experience building the Pvs 14 and can do the purge?

modarmory in the springs does nvg maintenance. that might be a good place to start.

Huh. Don't see that every day.

Purging is just blowing some Nitrogen into the housing to prevent condensation on the electronics. I was a 94F Special Electronic Device Repair(NVG GUY) in the army. If you have an HVAC buddy he should have a tank of Nitrogen on his work truck.

Curious, did the skills you learned from your MOS transition directly to specific civilian type work?

I had no idea Modarmory worked on NVGs. I figured some one in the C-springs area would.

You're building one of these? So cool.

How about a write up in the sights & optics forum. I'm sure there are others like myself, who would be interested in your project. Not only would it be a good read, you'd triple your post count answering everyone's questions. Just started browsing NV / NOD discussions , I'm somewhat challenged understanding the process building your own.

I have been contemplating do a write up on the build since I made this post.

I'm no where near being an expert in the NV world. I couldn't even look at an image intensifier tube data sheet and tell you what any of it meant. But I plan on changing that through this process. A good friend of mine that I joined the Marines with was a NV instructor for his squadron. He still has all his course material and is going to let me read through it.

My progress in this project so far is a Photonis xx1940 tube that has been ordered.

Not exactly. I still had to go back to school after the army and retrain for a new career. I am doing HVAC now which I love and is still electronics(high voltage).

Glad to hear you're doing something you like [Beer]
