Quoting from Reddit:

Based on results from SHOT show, it looks like Kalashnikov Concern is opening a U.S. plant to produce and release KC products from their Saiga, Baikal, and Izhmash product lines. Looks like we can have all the goodies that the Russians and Europeans enjoy that we previously did not, because they will be made here in the U.S.

This could mean that we can have all the 100 series rifles, AK-74M rifles, and perhaps even U.S. made Tigr rifles from the U.S. Kalashnikov Concern plant

**EDIT:**

MORE NEWS FROM THE AK OPERATORS UNION

it Looks like it's real guys.

Kalashnikov concern is opening a U.S. plant here to make domestically made Kalashnikov products

***EDIT NUMBER 2:***

LISTEN UP GUYS

It looks like this is the doing of RWC Group. RWC owns the licencing for Kalashnikov, and it looks like they are opening a new plant (probably Pennsylvania) under Kalashnikov USA.

RWC Group was the importer of all KC brand products before the sanctions hit the U.S.. Because of Sanctions, RWC Group could have been very well out of business and so they've taken a turn to keep the company going.

So basically what they are doing is this: creating a new manufacturing facilities for U.S. made AK pattern rifles under the Kalashnikov name.

It doesn't look like they will have much contact with their "Parent" company

This leaves me with several questions.

* 1) WHAT TOOLING WILL THEY BE USING? This is probably the biggest question I have. I am interested in CORRECT Izhmash features on my rifles. For example, having the proper, new style type C parts on my AK-100 series rifles. Will they be using original Russian blueprints for the parts they will be creating? or will this just be another "All american made AK rifle" like the Centurion with "Kalashnikov USA" stamped on the side?

* 2) this question relates to question 1 but WHAT PARTS WILL THEY BE REPLICATING? WHO'S ENGINEERING THESE PARTS AND NEW RIFLES? If they come out with the Saiga 9, as AK Operator's Union claims they will be releasing, [will it have all the features the real Saiga 9 has?](http://www.gunsholstersandgear.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Saiga-9-carbine.jpg). let me use the rear sight block as an example. In this picture we have the Saiga 9. In it, we have the type C style rear sight block, with the proper type C gas-tube lever. All aks in the U.S, except for Saiga imports, do not have a gas tube lever like this. The saiga 9 also has the unique rear sight block that has a hinge to allow the dust cover to rotate on it, which is different than say an AKS-74U hinge block. Will they be replicating this to the detail?

* 3) Will we be seeing the same products KC produces in Russia come out of Kalashnikov USA? I mean they are using the Baikal promo images and names on their display at SHOT show. does this mean they will be coming out with Baikal products?

* 4) related to question 3 but it need's it's own point. WILL WE SEE U.S. MADE SVD RIFLES? I mean I have two but I would like to own more.

there are so many questions in need of answers now.

Haha that's exactly what I told a friend of mine.

Ridge: at the very least, hopefully this will force KVAR's hand and their prices will begin to decrease to compete

American made RUSSIAN small arms.

That is something you couldn't have said openly in the 50's, 60's, 70's or early 80's.

It is just an American company that owns the American rights to the Kalishnakov name. I hope it goes well but a Kalishnakov it is not.

I'm thinking that a Russian made Arsenal Saiga would still maintain a higher resale just because it's says Legion Izhevsk Russia on the side. Might even go up in value if the new ones are stamped USA.

It appears to me that any US made Kalashnikov product will exist in name only. RWC, the US manufacture, is not even allowed to "talk" to Kalashnikov Concern in Russia. I don't imagine they will be getting any machining from Russia. It will just be another copy, but this one appears (for now) to be using the name Kalashnikov. Barry's executive orders won't let Kalashnikov Concern collect any money from the US for guns. I would not be surprised to see Kalashnikov Concern filing a law suite against RWC if they can't collect money for using their name. I don't imagine most US courts are going to be sympathetic to a US gun manufactures plight. Having said that, I'm still excited to see a new US manufacture, maybe it will still be a high quality copy regardless of the name on it.

We'll see how excited everyone still is about an AMERICAN made AK47 that costs more than a decent AR15. IMO the fact that they were manufactured in countries where labor rates were cheap so the rifle (as well as the ammo for said rifle) could be sold at a fraction of the price of an AR15 was the draw.

That being said, good for them for showing the idiots at the .gov that their stupid knee-jerk laws are easy to circumvent if the money is there just like everything else they make illegal.

Interesting they are thinking of choosing Pennsylvania instead of picking a solid red state. If it pisses off progressives it is good.

This story reminds me of my buddy who's family was involved in the over through of Noriega. He says his grandpa in still has his fully auto, matching serial number russian AK. That would be some beauty.

This. Just having to pay for Obamacare will drive their prices up over Chicom stuff. I'm not against this as anything poking a finger in Obama's and Holder's eyes is good but otherwise this is much ado about nothing IMO.

Technically my AKs were made in US (mostly from foreign parts)... 922(r) compliance requires some US made parts

ETA: if they do some other calibers (308, 9mm, etc), and heavier duty design (like Veprs), then I'd be interested.

Mixed feelings... It's good another gun company is starting up production here, but personally I just can't get excited about an AK.

Will this be a case of

AK supplies up--so prices down?

Or,

This is the real thing without the frankensteinian post-import 922r parts swaps--so prices up?

Right now they're on the verge of a significant upswing- because Russian import has been blocked.
But AK prices only go so far before nobody will buy them (unless they are something special- collectible and/or high quality)

It should be noted that you can still buy AKs and parts from other countries (except Russia and China), they're not blocked from import.

no doubt..

of course the new CAI c39v2 and RAS ak47 are both fully us built, and they are getting pretty good reviews
