I know many of you are LEO. I'm looking to see if any of you could let me tag along for some ride alongs. I live in Highlands ranch but want to ride with any department I can.

Feel free to PM me.

I know that many places will let you. Your closest one might be to try Littleton.

When you start riding, check out all different shifts. A day-shifter's calls are significantly different from graves or swings.

Have you checked with the DCSO substation by the HR Town Center?

I don't think they can do that without official permission. So applying to do so is probably your best bet.

Yeah I'm aware I also know some departments you can request an officer

Did you see this from their FaceBook page? They are looking for reserves.

In one week, you can learn more about volunteering as a Reserve Deputy with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. We're holding an open house on Saturday, January 24 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Highlands Ranch Law Enforcement Training Facility at 6001 Ron King Trail, Littleton, CO 80125. For more about it, click here: http://tinyurl.com/p2wmnwu

I saw it earlier and kept the page open just in case I had some time.

Ride alongs are cool, I hope you have fun with that. The real fun though, happens when you find out if your county offers a Citizens Police Academy. You will (should) experience a whole bunch of stuff if your county offers that. It's free (in Weld County anyways) and it took about 8 or so weeks to complete. I had a lot of fun, and so did all the other folks that participated.

Just throwin' that out there.

I took the CPA when I lived in Aurora. It was incredibly interesting, and great fun.

I'd like to know this as well. I just contacted a sergeant at DCSO office about this

Another fan of Citizens Academy. Son and I went through Arapahoe County program. Also lead to our participation in CERT training and the family introduction to prepping.

Do you know if a person has to be a resident of Douglas County to be a reserve?

If you wanna be bored out of your mind doing basic traffic stuff (unless "the" call comes in) come ride with me. Its a bit of a drive but I can take you out as along as you don't have any active warrants or felonies.
