I will give a brief review of my impressions of SHOT 2015...

I am not a fan of Vegas in general, so the night life appeal is lost on me. I even got punched by James when I walked by two booth babes wearing maybe 6 square inches of cloth without even noticing. 60K people, 320 football fields, 12 miles a day and 8 meetings a day. Seems like everytime a meeting ran over and I was late to the next meeting, Joe and Sue from Arkansas were strolling down the aisle in front of me...double wide does not even begin to describe it.

There was very little new and interesting to be honest. There were manufacturers that put a product in the "new product showcase" that had a new paint job, or different shaped holes in the handguard, or a new caliber, but were not really new. Easily the best new product from an innovation and engineering perspective was the Benelli 828U O/U. Pretty amazing. The MagPul new Glock mags, not so much. The MagPul new M700 chassis, I'll pass...but if the new AICS mags they are producing work, they will be a welcome addition. Remington is going to again produce the M7 (yes .260) in stainless, a welcome configuration for me. Also lots of new .308 pattern ARs. JP Rifles has the new Ultra Low mass aluminum carrier and a new roller trigger. Both are pretty cool. Leupold has the dual sight optic, cool...might have a place in PRS style matches, but I do not think in 3Gun. There were LOTS of pistol ARs, both in rifle and pistol calibers. Kel-Tec redesigned the SUB2000, and my name sits in the #1 position to run a T&E gun with M&P magazines when they are available.

Streamlight captured my attention with some cool products. Higher output WMLs, new mini-USB rechargeable flashlights AND a 5200 mAh battery pack to charge them (or your phone) that is rugged and has a backup LED. Maybe the only thing I saw that I WILL buy.

I got to meet several other members of Samson's Operation X and check out their new products. The RAM mount is pretty solid and my testing of same will be ongoing. Here is a review of the mount with the 3.5 multiplier: https://www.facebook.com/mark.passamaneck/posts/1393825327587125 If anyone wants to check it out, I will have it with me at the 3Gun match February 7 at CRC.

Down 20K people from last year, the dynamic was different. Gone were the desperate pleas for .22ammo, but it seemed that no-one had their budget done for 2015 and there were lots of Pro Shooters taking downgrades in sponsorship and endorsements. The selfie, with celebrities or gun poses got to an almost disgusting level. How can you pick up a gun, say how great it is when you have never fired it, dunno.

IF you have never been, you DO need to go once if you call yourself a gun enthusiast of any kind. A week long regimen of EmergenC and my own bottle of hand sanitizer apparently kept me from the SSC (Shot Show Crud).

I appreciate your efforts in letting us know. The only reason I think I'd ever go is if I started a WTF were they thinking website / publication and needed to have a presence there to antagonize Mossberg and Sig.

Hmmmmm.

no mention of the single stack Glock 9mm yet? They have to be seeing dropping interest in the 42 by now...

Yes, it is slated for production in...2017. That is not a typo. They would not tell me what comes out in 2016, but they were pretty positive that the 2017 SHOT new product would be a 9mm SS G. Oh well.

They had Segal at the SHOT party. There was a pretty rampant rumor that they have signed another top male shooter. Team Glock right now is pretty sad from a performance perspective, an old guy and two hotties, and needs some substance with the loss of KC.

The new P320 is pretty cool actually. I was impressed a little. :)

You could write a nice trilogy about the fails in the new product showcase. Funny thing is, NO photos or video allowed in there.

The other interesting thing is to pick a group of 4 Asian men and follow them for like 30 minutes. Watching them work to get specs and photos to knock stuff off would be a good storyline for a movie if Segal came in blazing SS 9mm Glocks while leaping over scantily clad booth babes.

From what i've heard. They will be releasing it the same time their carbine is unveiled.

Regarding SSC, neighbor behind us was there (armor plates and materials) for .Mil & LE vehicles. He sounds & looks terrific.

Thanks for the recap Mark. One or two SHOT shows is enough for me. It is a spectical that should be experienced though. The only thing that I miss is the Crye party and KAC cocktail party. Those I enjoyed.

I know there were many additions to the 308 AR chassis but the Olympic MPR15-308 chassis has promise. Only need one register-able lower and can mount 308, 5.56 or pistol cal uppers all on the same lower. The mag well without conversion accepts the different mags. Like most new items Olympic is using proprietary mags except 5.56 cal. Not compatible with Colt, Armalite or DPMS patterns.

.308 pattern...there were also 2 12 gauge uppers that will go on standard (if there is one) .308 pattern AR lowers. Proprietary magazines. Since they were not at range day to shoot, I will remain skeptical.

I did enough SHOT to learn that, as an end user, my time/money/irritation is better spent following Soldiersystem.net and avoiding the mess of airsofters and internet bloggers that pack the floor.

Wait, you're not talking about their MCX/MPX right? And really just a straight-up MP5 clone?

Err Kim Rhodes is a soap opera actress, you mean Kim Rhode :P Speaking of Olympians, there were 2 winter Olympic female biathletes at CRC's Noveske match this year. They were awesome competitors and kicked serious butt, very very classy.

I was fortunate to be in their squad, just didn't want to name them. That's great that they're invested in 3Gun, they're amazing at it!
