Mossberg MVP Patrol 762 - Accuracy and Mag Question

Looking at picking up a Mossberg MVP Patrol 762 to compliment my 16" AR-10 but with a bolt action (Same Ammo / Mags). I read what I could find with search, still had a few questions.

Accuracy: What real world accuracy are people getting with 165/168 match loads or good hand loads. I'm looking for consistent 1.5-2.0" 5 shot groups at 100 yards without being a single load gun. This type of accuracy is what I can get out of my AR-10 with a variety of loads. Is this a realistic expectation? Most reviews state really good accuracy, but generally have one 3 shot group as an example. My chrome lined AR-10 is a 1/2MOA gun by the one 3 shot group method. What are end users getting?

Feeding/Lockup with SR25 Mags: Plan on using 10 and 20 rd SR25 style Gen 3 PMAGs. I have read conflicting reviews on feeding from the 3rd generation PMAGs. Also found a few comments in other forums about poor lock up of the mag in gun. Anyone have a MVP patrol and use Gen 3 PMAGs?

Maybe they got tired of it. OR fell to peer pressure from the remy crowd. Wouldn't be the first time.
Can't speak for the .308, only the 5.56 unit. Outside of aftermarket stocks, it's a very nice rifle. Great shooter, accurate 5.56 chambered, 1:9 fluted bbl. .Is it a remington, of course not. Is it worth the price point, yes. I'm partial to a detachable mag that interfaces with other guns in the collection.
Another 308 getting good feed back is the Ruger Gunsite Scout, OR Savage. any i would go with over a remington.

Thanks for the feedback, not having to buy into a new mag type was what really perked my interest. Also like the scope rail being in a non scout configuration.

Have a friend with a Ruger Gunsite scout rifle. Nice rifle, just wish it used SR25 pattern mags.

Not going to pull the trigger on purchase til March, will keep reading.

Got a partial awnser to my question. I found a 762 model MVP at a LGS,

SR25 pattern Gen III PMAG fit fine, but was a little loose. Biggest issue seemed to be the PMAG locks into the mag well in the back only. The factory mag has locking points in the front and back. Prone with pressure on the mag, it "might" cause a feed issue.

Wasn't' a show stopper, but something to keep in mind. I probably could always modify the PMAGs to have a second locking hole on the front of the mag.

I have 7.62 MVP Patrol and like it enough. I immediately bought a 10 rd pmag and found no issues with feeding or stability in the magwell. I actually like the pmag over factory mag. I have a stack of M1A/M14 mags that will also work with the rifle. Having a 20 rounder hanging under the rifle is somewhat awkward but awesome as well, functioned fine.

I have not shot it enough to love it or hate it yet but if I were forced to choose between my MVP or my Ruger Gunsite Scout, I'd go with the RGS. Something about fit and finish as well as the stock on the MVP seems somehow "less" than the Ruger. YMMV...

Thanks for the direct feedback. The fit and finish on the one I handle was OK and in line with price, but definitely could have been better. Still in the pondering phase of purchase.

I have shot a friends in .308 and I have a good number of rounds through mine in .223. Good value, fit and finish leaves a bit to be desired, but they shoot great.

Remember, it has a threaded barrel. A suppressor would look just right on the end of the Patrol.
