View Full Version : Just came home from MEPS

We just got home from watching our son swear in and leave for the Marine recruit training station in San Diego. Very proud moment for us. He has wanted this since middle school and now he has finally reached it. One of the SSgt even came in the waiting room and singled my wife and I out in front of all the other parents. Shook our hand and told us how respectful my son is and that we " raised him right". He thanked us again and said nothing to the other parents all day. Yes, very proud indeed..... He is now the second of my kids to serve. I cant wait, 72 days and my boy will return and have earned the title, United States Marine.

One very proud Dad......

You may or may not use Facebook on any regular basis but if you check the MCRD San Diego Facebook page you may catch a glimpse or two of him they randomly post pictures of Recruits in training.

He should have completed his in processing and have been picked up by a platoon hopefully he is not already receiving any individual attention like this individual. This is an accurate representation of your Sons day as these Recruits were just picked up by their Platoons as well.

"Drill instructors of Alpha Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, instruct a recruit to respond to what they say during Pick Up at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Feb. 6. Pick up day is when recruits meet their new drill instructors who will be with them for the next 13 weeks"
