What a moron. I guess we can all pretend now. So, if he lied about this, how much other stuff did he lie about? Im sure alot.

Brian Williams, the nation’s top-rated news anchor, has admitted fabricating a tale of being shot down in a helicopter over Iraq a dozen years ago.
Tonight he made amends to everyone, in his broadcast, including the sgt. that he honored at a hockey game.
I'm not sure it was a fabrication as much as mis-remembering. His mea-culpa was satisfactory. The fact that he honored those in uniform was the most important thread.

I remember that as well. He even worked his son into the story. His statements at the time didn't ring true. You have to respect the pattern.

next thing you know a video will surface of him at a bar wearing a uniform telling people he was shot down and now a disabled war hero.

What makes this especially egregious is that he has been telling this story for more than a decade on a nationally broadcast program.
Wish I could mis remember to pay my taxes then on my death bed tell everyone I'm sorry.

I was shot down(in flames) dozens of times in bars when I was in my late teens and 20s. I think I still have PTSD from those incidents.

I consider stolen valor anything where you materially profit. Since show biz and his rep is his job, I'd say it's pretty close.

Check out his VERY detailed story to Letterman. Said his pilot got hit. Said they landed hard, had to drop some bridge material they were carrying, blah, blah, blah. That is not a mis-remember. Clearly an all out fabrication.
I am wondering his knee replacement surgery was real. He had a real fast recovery.

When I heard this today, my first thought was a form of stolen valor. While politicians lie all the time, "journalists" usually try to maintain some form of integrity/character. I view Williams the same as Dan Rather now - a dishonest talking head who can't be trusted - period. Man, how far has journalism fallen....

It gets better.
I was listening to the Micheal Brown show yesterday and he went on a tear about this.
Then he went on about Williams claims of seeing a floater wash by his hotel in the French Quarter during Katrina. Claimed it traumatized him terribly and changed his life.
The only issue is the French Quarter did not get flooded as say the 9th ward did.

I really don't understand how someone with such a high profile gets away with something like this for so long. You'd think someone from his old unit would have called him out before now.

If Hillary Clinton could get away with misremembering being under sniper fire while exiting her AF ride in Bosnia, why would a reporter be held to a higher standard?
He's now under investigation for his reporting during Katrina....apparently some of his reports don't pass the smell test.

I am not defending Brian Williams nor Dan Rather (about WBush incident), but isn't it editor in chief who is in charge of what they want to say on the air?

I hope this vetting spreads to the entire media. Communism/socialism/Marxism/progessives/liberals have always been about lying to the public to gain more control over them.
