Good price. Buds Guns shows $440+ for a PT1911.

If anyone finds a good condition used Colt 1911 for $399, let me know and I'll give you a $100 finders fee...

Not only no, but NO.
Taurus has one of the best warranties in the business. It is also the warranty most used.
Fit and finish all over the place as well as tolerances, I have had to deal with poor machining, fitment, lock up etc.
Sights are proprietary.
There are better ways to spend your money.
I would rather have a Rock Island or similar for a budget 1911.

In regards to 1911's a much smarter man than me once said "friends don't let friends buy a Para and don't let them SHOOT a Taurus." That always stuck with me.

I agree with Bert. No.

I'd rather have one of the Rock Island 1911's for that price point.

When I used to hang out on 1911 forums the Taurus PT1911's weren't thought of very highly by most of the members. Seems they had issues with parts falling off, and a lot of guys really didn't like the external extractor. No personal experience myself, but I'm a Rock Island fan.

I rank Taurus as the second worst firearm I have ever owned with AMT being the worst. If some one gave me a Taurus I wouldn't keep it. Some day I may really say how I feel about them.

I never had a problem with a Taurus 1911, and I had a few...
Springfield Armory, had to send it in twice for warranty, right out of the box, almost twice the money.

Don't be hatin...

Friends don't let friends buy Taurus... but if you're going to get one, make sure it's pimp.

I own a couple Taurus hand guns. They are all good to go in my opinion.

Isn't that around what they cost new?

Yep. Also depends on whether it is a GI model with the standard sights or the 3-dot sights.

I got my dad one of the RIA 1911s for a birthday one year (didn't have a ton of cash to spend). His model has one of the best 1911 triggers that I have felt on a plain jane model, MUCH better trigger than my R1 or my mil-spec. (The R1 trigger was abysmal for a 1911).
