View Full Version : Process for Transfers
If this is discussed somewhere, I can't find it.
I'm interested in purchasing some items that will require transfers between FFL's (ex: PSA, Midway, Brownells, etc....). What is the process? Do I find a local FFL willing to accept the transfer first? Do they give me their info (Name, address, FFL #...) before I order to give to the selling FFL? Do I need the seller's info for the local FFL (FFL #)?
Thanks in advance for the education.
Call or PM Ark Tactical. They are an industry partner here and they will walk you through the process. [Flower]

You buy it from the seller.
They ship it to the FFL.
You pick it up, do the background check and pay your local ffl for the transfer.
I use rapid fire bunker as they are the cheapest in town for mailed in transfers, and close to you in old town littleton. ($25 out the door = $15 transfer +$10 CBI fee)
Most big retailers (PSA, or shops in shotgun news etc) will have a place like rapid fires FFL on file, so you don't have to do anything. If they don't they will usually contact each other for a fax of the ffl.
Like what Sportbike said. Lots of online retailers have FFL's info on file. They normally have a drop down list in the check-out. That makes it sooo easy!

Do yourself and the receiving FFL a favor & let them know who you are, give them your contact info, tell them what is being shipped to them and who is sending it.
Most FFL's despise getting blind orders delivered to them. Some have been known to ship the item(s) back to the originator(s).

If your chosen FFL is not on file just put their Co. Name, address and phone in the shipping information. After getting an order # from the online vendor, call your FFL and have them Fax or e-mail their information to the vendor referencing your order #. All the online sites have a Specific Fax or e-mail address for receiving FFL information.
Thanks for the info. I think a trip to RFB and Ark are in order. Probably makes sense to start a relationship with a couple local shops.
Go to Ark Tactical. Introduce yourself and that you're from the Forum. Chances are they're other members in the store too.

I have to agree with Ginsue here, as a home-based FFL myself, I really appreciate it when anyone who's intending to have a weapon transferred through me at least e-mails me first. Some retailers are better than others with shipments, including a customers contact information, etc., but others will literally just send a box with a gun inside and nothing else, leaving me with NO f-ing clue whom the hell it's supposed to go to. We DEFINITELY appreciate a little bit of a heads up.
I can say I've never sent a customer's firearm back though, lol.
