Perhaps this subject has been beaten to death already but sites and prices change so I figure I will ask again.
Looking at putting together something new to annoy the neighbors with. An AR is still missing from the collection so why not. Scoped out a few mil-spec .223 uppers and complete lowers from anderson, Bison, RockRiver, Surplus Ammo. I admit that looking cool is an important factor, at least for me. The Grim Reaper did catch my eye. Further then that they all look pretty much the same to me with the exception of the neat logos stamped in. Any tips on where to buy or not to buy, quality, best pricing or anything else?
Thanks in advance
Shoot more, work less.
Consider custom engraving if Looking Cool is a factor. Colorado Gun Writes is one local business that will laser engrave whatever image or text you want. Photo quality images with almost microscopic details to plain stuff. Personal stuff like a picture of your dog or generic drooling skulls. Engraving can be anywhere, upper, lower, stocks or wherever. Reasonably priced.
Ark Tactical usually has a good selection of lowers and other parts and the are very friendly and helpful.
Have fun.
Subscribing.
I will be building a penny pincher build when I move back with a suppressor. And just need something to put lead down range. Nothing too special

You guys should look at the Aero precision M4E1 upper. Nice monolithic upper, pretty light and affordable. I got 4 of them in different size and flavor and I love them.

Great idea. Thanks for the reply.
Seekins lower if you want to look cool.

Seekins lowers look ghey... curves like that do not belong on such an object.
OP, check out Joe Bob Outfitters' Spartan billet receivers. Really great products, really great price, really great customer service, and they look good...

Hands down best product for the money, IMO.
Then again, if money isn't a concern, this would be a sweet setup...

The Joe Bob stuff looks to be half the price of the Seekins stuff too.
Scoped out a few mil-spec .223 uppers
No you didn't. "Mil-spec" calls for a 5.56 NATO chambering. Not 223.

Anyhow, for local parts and pieces Bowers Tactical in Centennial is hard to beat.
As far as online vendors, Joe Bob Outfitters and Aimsurplus often have pretty good deals.
If you are looking to buy your upper instead of building it Bravo Company might be the best "bang for your buck" as they offer a very high quality, durable product and I believe they are still throwing in the bolt carrier group for free right now.
You might check out Palmetto State Armory if saving money is important as they often have pretty good prices as well. I won't use them because their customer service blows. Others seem to be perfectly happy with them.

Just about. I'm a big fan of them... there's a lot of cool little things with their stuff too. For example, the lower comes with set screws instead of roll pins and a built-in tensioning screw to eliminate play between the receivers. And it's compatible with the BAD 45* safety.

Spikes Tactical makes some nice lowers that aren't traditional. I've got a zombie lower, wasn't my first choice but since I bought it from a gunsmith it was either that or wait three weeks for a regular lower.
I admit that looking cool is an important factor, at least for me.
In that case, Jesse James Firearms Unlimited is your kinda place: https://www.jjfu.com
