YES IT WAS, Considering the sign twirler was sitting in one of those rascals ! Not sure if he had both legs or not. Unable to see up close as Lunch was calling us.

Panhandlers (aka "bums") get zero attention from me. Not even a nod when they flash the peace sign at me.

This happened yesterday. We were at a light in Broomfield and some shitbag walks up to my window with some cardboard sign and flashes the peace sign. I just kept eyes forward and ignored him. Of course he did the same to every car behind me. Right across the street was a Walmart with a HUGE help wanted sign hanging outside. Genius.

What pisses me right off, are the turds who not only enable, but cause me to miss the green light. Instead of making the lazy mooch walk over to them while the light is red, they wait until it turns green, drive up to the bum, stop midway through the light, and give their money.

Never gave them anything, never will. When we first moved here (3 years ago) I got 2 acceptances in 1 day of looking.

I know a homeless guy able bodied, and asked him why he didn't just look for a job. His response: "too much of a hassle.... I enjoy the freedom I have".

I have called them over, handed them a business card of a guy who would hire if they just showed up. Card thrown in dirt a couple times , been cursed out a couple times, few said thanks, most said nothing and most did nothing. Only heard of two who showed up for work, out of more than a dozen cards given out.[Rant1][fail]

If you feel compelled, donate to a charity and let them make a case at the charity for food. Most don't actually need it, those who do know where to go.

I get a monthly newsletter from the Denver Rescue Mission because I was a supporter before I retired . They even discourage panhandling because it's only a temporary fix and not long term help.
They encourage participation in their programs which assist with long term solutions. I also recognize that a lot of panhandlers just aren't looking for long term solutions and that's from firsthand conversations with SOME of them.

One particular begger I see daily has a sign that reads "Working single mom, please help." Yes, her sign actually says she has a job yet somehow I see her all hours of the day standing right there on the curb.
