Just a quick question for everyone. When you guys are looking at buying a can, how do you pick where you buy it from? Why would you choose the SilencerShop.com over a LGS? Are you just looking for the lowest price? For those of you who have ordered from SilencerShop or other places, what are all the LGS charging for the transfer?
Thx
Abomb
Silencer shop has an option at checkout for $270 that is supposed to include your stamp and all transfers fees. My can is here in CO but waiting approval so I can't confirm the transfer fee thing yet. Maybe someone else can confirm that.

Price to quality / performance of product. Everybody has their favorite, best to shop , or call around to see where you feel comfortable. IMO IF you're wanting one ASAP buy from a dealer who has it in stock.
I find a brand I like and try to buy it local first.

Add two months to the wait time if you don't buy local. The dealer transfer is taking 8-10 weeks before you're able to file your form 4.

Mine is sitting in somewhere in Denver waiting for approval. I couldn't find what I wanted locally so I went this route. Customer service so far has been top notch. IIRC... It took approx. 7 weeks to approve form 3 and get it here.

Search local to try and find the can you want. This will knock a couple months off your form 3 dealer transfer. If you can't find it locally, Silencershop treated me very well. And... The "Silencershop Direct" cost of $70 for transfer from "SS Direct" dealer to you is well within normal transfer pricing.

Next question is what are you looking to suppress, Plinking or precision rig ? If it's precision buy once, cry once. For plinking having fun at range & general targets. Build it.
Machine Gun tours has a huge sale right now..I'll try to find a link.

The next one will most likely be a surefire or the new omega. I have three cans already.
It's nice to see that most of the people are buying locally. I knew about MGT's sale. That's where I have gotten all my cans.

I've had great experience buying my two cans from Mile High Shooting Accessories.
If you have never bought a can (or anything NFA) before, then go through SilencerShop. They will hold your hand the entire way and it is totally automated. Helps you understand the process and stupidity involved.
Once you have done that, find a good SOT that you can start a relationship with. There have been a couple of bad beans in Colorado in the last few years, but they get weeded out fairly quickly.
I personally have two 'go-to' folks that I always use, both of them small home-based guys who know what they are doing - and know that I know what I'm doing, so we don't get in each others way; but it took me years to find them - and they wouldn't work well for new folks.

Tim @ DangerLee Industries or Noah @ Ark Tactical
Damn! Damn! Damn!
Stopped in MGT's to check inventory and prices. Left with a much lighter wallet and paperwork to send to BATFE.

Should have went with one of the above suggestions, the prices I've seen out of MGT are a joke.

Have you looked at their sale prices? They don't look half bad.

Not sure I follow. What were you trying to buy?

I haven't looked at anything of theirs in awhile, maybe they've come back to reality, but last time I looked at anything they had for sale, it was not priced well.

It is true that, at one point, MGT had some items priced higher than its competitors but these days they are in line with (or better priced) than other LGS. Sixgun posted the suppressor sale list earlier on this thread. I think you will be pleasantly surprised when you look at what most of these items are being sold for.
Is MGT still doing their suppressor sale?

You check their website or call? Easiest way to verify what's on sale AND in stock. Too bad MGT feels like a 2 day drive for me, or they'd be my go to shop for NFA, if i needed something F4'd

I'll check them out today.
I'm in that neck of the woods each week , and they just made it toooooo easy for me...great customer service.
I didn't check out pricing on things, but the cans on sale were a good deal, and were in stock at the time. Mailed my paperwork and tithe to the federales today.
Now the wait......sigh

What did you end up getting? I'm looking at the Specwar 556.
The Sprecwars are now gone but they still have a couple of AAC Mini4 and M4-2000 (one of which keeps asking me to take it home with me).
I picked up a AAC Ti-Rant 45 and an older model Thunder-Beast in 30-cal.
The Ti-rant meets my multiple pistol needs, and the Thunder-Beast was a good deal and will get me trough till I can add more cans to my collection.
Just got a sparrow today and they confirmed that the sale goes until all the cans listed are gone. That 7.62 Saker is looking pretty tempting.
Being that I live in cheyenne, I can buy direct from ThunderBeast.
For anyone looking, Tim @DangerLee has a nearly new 338 TB can for sale.

Staying warm up there?
Nope, cold and windy. Snowing right now too.
I bought my first can from Douglas County Firearms. No complaints and living in Castle Rock, it's nice that I can go over anytime and shoot it while I wait for approval.
