Has anyone had the opportunity to play with one of these? I think its a great idea, and I can't believe its taken so long for a company to build an AR/M4 platform specifically for .22lr. However, I was curious what you all thought, and thought I would post some of my impressions as well.
I was at Rocky Mountain Shooters Supply today in Fort Collins, and they had one there for sale around $650, sorry don't remember the exact price. I noticed right off the bat that the safety mechanism requires you to turn/actuate it a full 180 degrees as opposed to the "standard" AR 90 degrees, and it was made of plastic and felt very flimsy. Also, I noticed that the bolt catch/hold open mechanism didn't work-it was there but only for show. Also, the front sight looked/felt like it was made of plastic. I didn't get to take it apart, but it felt a little flimsy overall, at least not like any other AR I've held or shot. I'd definitely be interested in something like this, especially from Colt, but I'm hesitant because it is a new design, and for the reasons mentioned above.
Would this be something you would invest in?
Have you had trigger time with this new toy?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
