Hey everyone, thought I'd introduce myself. Name is Chadwick and I just bought my first gun. I've been around them growing up and even had my own .22 rifle when I was a kid. I'd go out shootingwith friends too, so I'm not a stranger to having them around. I picked up an M&P Shield 9mm from a member here last week and got to shoot with it yesterday. Planning on building an AR soon, so wanted to get on here to learn as much as I could. Anyway, on to the pictures.

it takes time to build up the firearms you want..
I have quite a few and still buying them for different purposes..

carry gun, full size tactical pistol, AR, AK, something 308 or better, a few 22's (pistol & rifle)
AK/AR pistol, I know some guys will throw in a few more AR's: 20" varmint gun, something SBR, 300 Black out.. :-) piston??? use your imagination..

as for the EBR..
purpose for you AR/AK does mater. Truck gun? tactical trainer? just a basic fun gun? what do you want it to do?
if you don't know what you want it to do, it will not do what you want, and you will not be happy with it.

two methods to go..
get a basic cheap AR, so you can kind of get your feet wet. (I recommend against lots of upgrades on a cheap receiver)
or
do some research, read about AR's, talk to people and build/buy what you want for the purpose. (don't spend money you don't need)

I talked to a lots of people and shot a few AR's, carbine vs mid vs rifle gas length. DI vs Piston. cheap trigger, single stage, two stage.

Some good information! Thanks, and thanks for the welcomes. I'm just looking to build one to just have some fun with. I don't hunt, so it'll just be something to take camping and mess around with from time to time.
