M1 Garand blank/grenade-cartridges.

Some interesting information for M1 Garand owners who may have a blank firing device or grenade launching device for their Garands.
The grenade cartridge generates more pressure thanthe M1909 .30 Caliber Blank Cartridge and is notdesigned or intended to be fired with a blank firingadapter. The significant physical difference betweenthe Grenade Cartridge and the Blank Cartridge isthat the Blank Cartridge has 6 crimps and theGrenade Cartridge has 5 crimps.

Yeah zteknik , I really wonder what percentage of current Garand owners know/knew this. I have to admit that I never realized this. Now I'll have to get out my meager little assembly of .30/06 cartridges to see if I do have both - blank and grenade launching. I am really anxious to get down to the Whittington NRA Range when we get finished with this damned snow and the mud gets dried up, so I can do some Garand shooting.[blaster]

I have never had any .30-06 blanks, never had a need for them but this is a great bit of trivia for us M1 fans. Thanks for that.

Would sure be great to see more posts about Garands in the C&R section. Another great "perk" about Garands is that (so far) the "originals" can be transferred between Colorado individuals without the Colorado BGC...........[blaster]
