Conservatives keep stepping in it....

Prisons prove being gay is a choice because many people enter the slammer straight and walk out gay, potential presidential candidate Ben Carson (http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/ben-carson-mulls-running-president-2016-article-1.2135846) said Wednesday.
The Baltimore neurosurgeon made the outlandish claims to television host Chris Cuomo on a segment of CNN’s morning show “New Day” after the anchor asked if he thought people had control over sexual orientation during a discussion about same-sex marriage.

Losing elections over and over is a choice, and it's the saddest one.

The left knows to ask lots of questions that have no real relevance just waiting for a retarded answer one way or the other.

What about abortions, do you think it's murdering children or do you think that its as good as birth control?

What about them muslims, should we embrace them with love or nuke them into glass?

What about gays, do you think they are born that way and are mindless drones who have no control over buttfucking?

What about...

Etc. etc.

The best thing a R can do is deflect. "I'm sorry, can you ask a question that isn't loaded? Further, I don't forsee this being an issue in the next election cycle, where the larger issues such as world policy and economic concerns are what my policies will be focused on".

That would require the Rs to think before they open their damn pieholes and proceed to alienate pretty much everyone...

Granted, the media has a real talent for asking "Have you stopped kicking puppies yet?"

The problem with Carson is he is a lousy politician, and lacks the discipline to handle gotcha questions. His only hope is to perhaps be a cabinet level leader (HHS?) if some other R gets elected.

Oh, wow. It's a train wreck. How unfortunate that he played by their rules.

Bye, Dr. Carson...

Oh well. I hope his exploratory committee figures this out.

I could not see voting for him anyway (which is not racist in any way). Make him surgeon general? Ha!!

Hopefully Dr Carson will recognize soon he is finished, and pull out - thus allowing more donor $$ to go to other candidates.

Trying to figure out who will be the best candidate to run against Hildabeast is like trying to choose the smartest kid with Downs Syndrome to captain the debate team.

True.

What people like Dr. Carson do not understand is that the communists play dirty and they play for keeps.

What does it matter? he has already made anti 2nd amendment comments and should have been off the watch list a long time ago.

At least now maybe people will see that he's a good speech maker but worthless beyond that, who else does that remind you of?

My perspective tells me that the problem is not actually with the candidates. Generally, conservatives care who they elect to represent them. Character counts. What the candidates say matters. Progressives don't really have these types of restrictions when it comes to their candidates. What they say is less important than what they can do for me. How does the candidate make me feel. Will they pay their constituents back for their contributions and votes?

Before any election begins, the default media position is conservatives are ignorant and backwards. Progressives are brilliant and caring.

I predict this coming Presidential election will be one of the most blatant "Cult of Personality" battles that I have ever witnessed, and I mean on both sides of the aisle. What does it say about our nation when two years out and the most likely tickets will be Bush v Clinton? What year are we living in?

Be safe.

^^ THIS...

he needed a "handler" or media consultant more than a year ago..
I suspect this would have prevented issues even within the (R) party.
He has not only put his foot in it with this, but with conservatives about gun control issues...
In my heart I believe he is intelligent enough, and is a constitutionalist... he could be easily convinced to do the right thing, given the right audience...

but it was nailed with "he's not a politician"... if you have political aspirations as a conservative, PLEASE get a good political consultant and listen to them.

It seems that even idiot liberals don't need to do that, the handlers seek THEM out.. maybe that's what the conservatives need

My question on that would be if the handlers would really be any better than what the candidates are already saying. The biggest problem the R's are facing is that what the deeply religious base wants to hear from someone will piss off a lot of undecided voters, especially on the issues the D's know they can hammer home of gay marriage and abortion. The minute even one of them says gay marriage shouldn't be banned and that the gov't should just let people live how they want the evangelicals will be frothing at the mouth and snapping their teeth. They'd get more of the middle voters, but they'd lose money from the far right voters.

I've never heard of prison turning someone gay except for in jokes. Perhaps he knows more post-prison homosexuals than I do (zero), but had I given the same answer, I could hardly consider it an honest reply.

There was a huge thing on Reddit a few years ago about a straight guy who started the gay stuff in prison with his long time cell mate because of mutual boredom and loneliness. He basically said everyone did it but passed off the behavior as assisted masturbation, not homosexuality.

Or maybe Carson was trolling everyone and referring to criminals becoming islamicized in prison...

"Honest and Open" are admirable traits...and they will serve only to provide a massive target to other contenders.

I work with the incarcerated population everyday. What Dr. Carson says is true. These assholes are macho ganstas one day and looking for to have sex with men the next.

A man escapes from a prison where he's been locked up for 15 years. He breaks into a house to look for money and guns. Inside, he finds a young couple in bed. He orders the guy out of bed and ties him to a chair.

While tying the homeowner's wife to the bed, the convict gets on top of her, kisses her neck, then gets up and goes into the bathroom.

While he's in there, the husband whispers over to his wife: "Listen, this guy is an escaped convict. Look at his clothes! He's probably spent a lot of time in jail and hasn't seen a woman in years. I saw how he kissed your neck. If he wants sex, don't resist, don't complain... do whatever he tells you.

Satisfy him no matter how much he nauseates you. This guy is obviously very dangerous. If he gets angry, he'll kill us both. Be strong, honey. I love you!"

His wife responds: "He wasn't kissing my neck. He was whispering in my ear. He told me that he turned gay in prison, thinks you're cute, and asked if we had any Vaseline. I told him it was in the bathroom. Be strong honey. I love you, too!"

I think the solution for R's and related is to stick to issues that matter, and don't both answering the stupid "feel good" hippy bullshit crap.

Sure, it would offend some in dodging the stupid issues, but it would work. Abortion, gays, Islam touchy-feeling, they are landmines. Instead of trying to carefully maneuver the road, don't drive on it at all.

If they keep beating it, could follow that up with:

Why is it so damn hard? Every single viable loon ends up putting their foot in their mouth and falling for the media hooks. It's not that hard to know what is off limits and build a nice little mental wall.
Nailed it.
