Do you have your profile set up to receive email notifications when you get a PM? If so, have you taken the time to notice the comment at the bottom of the message that says:

Again, please do not reply to this email. You must go to the following page to reply to this private
message:
https://www.ar-15.co/private.php

??

Trust me, this isn't there just to pad space on the email.

You see, when you reply to the email notification the reply DOES NOT go to your intended recipient - it goes to the site Contact Us email account. That lets the staff read your PM's (the entire chain if you've been PM'ing back and forth & not trimming out the older PM's). Not only that, but it puts an extra burden on the staff to review the message & determine if it's a case where we should cut-&-paste the email into a PM to the intended recipient. Most of the time we choose to just delete the message.

So, if you want to keep the staff happy, keep your PM's private and ensure your message gets to the member you want it to go to, don't reply to the emails telling you that you received a PM.

Thank you for reading.

I think I inadvertently replied like that just the other day. Was in a hurry at work. Oops.

So if I want to just say hi to you guys, I should reply to emails from the forum? Sweet! Does it work with the happy birthday emails as well?

Yes, yes it does. In fact, we occasionally get replies back from folks thanking us for the Birthday wishes. We also get notifications when folks email address is no longer valid if the system attempted to send them a message. I'll send a message to get it updated and if it doesn't get done within a couple of days I remove their TP access and require them to validate their eMail address before they get their access back. I'm mean that way.
