REPOST due to Mikey Bloomberg's paid hacktivist team ...

Missing: Richard Evans was last seen in the area of E. Ellsworth Avenue and Sable Blvd in Aurora on Wednesday, 03/18 at 5:45pm. He left a car rental lot at DIA on Wednesday, 03/18 at 4:59pm. He is a Caucasian male, 6'2", 230# with gray hair and glasses. He rented a 2014 12-person white SE 350 van, Washington license plate AQK7505. It appears he may have taken Pena to I-70 to Mississippi or Alameda to Aurora.

If you have any information please contact law enforcement.

His wife doesn't want to deal with a ton of calls directly so please contact law enforcement with any information. If you have any contacts in law enforcement in the Denver area, or FBI or CBI---please pass along this information. They will be able to access the complete file. If you want to let me know who your contact is, I will pass that info along to his wife.

For what it's worth, he rented the van because his flights home to Colorado Springs had been continually delayed or cancelled but he was able to get to DIA and the van was the last thing the rental place had available. He's as boring as Mr. Cunningham (spurious "Happy Days" reference!) and I am proud to call him friend but would dearly love to help his wife get word of him and his whereabouts.

Bump.

More info from the wife: There is video of him at Party City in Aurora where he used his credit card and looked well. Video of him at a nearby Target where he paid in cash and did not look well. Denver detectives are surprised the van hasn't turned up. The van is our single best clue so please be on the look out for it.

Surprised this hasn't made the news yet, seems more newsworthy than most of the stuff I see on there anymore.

Whoa, guy's been missing for a month, but videos have surfaced of him? How recent are these videos and card usages? This is freaky.....

I can't imagine what his wife is going through, hopefully he comes out of this okay

I believe the videos are security footage from the day he went missing. The good thing is that we originally had information that his credit card use was by someone other than him. We have one person maintaining contact with the wife (trying to avoid "telephone game" misinformation) and understandably the wife and his son are dealing with a number of issues -- not the least of which is that his employer is going to "cut him off" (I'm surprised they didn't do it earlier TBH) so wife is looking at having to get a job again so she can pay bills.

Thanks for keeping your eyes open for the van.

Unfortunately, he has been confirmed as deceased. No details available but you can stop looking for the him or the van. Thanks.

Whatever the circumstances are surrounding his death, it's a horrible tragedy and I am very sad to hear of this outcome. I am praying for the peace and strength of the Evans family and friends and for swift justice if appropriate. Rest in peace Richard!

His body was found in the van he rented in a Sam's Club parking lot in Aurora. As Aloha_Shooter stated, no details are currently available. It's possible that there was no foul play involved.

My prayers go out to the family and friends of this gentleman.

Yeah, I didn't add the details on where his body was found because I didn't think it was germane. For his family's sake, I hope there wasn't any foul play involved. His wife will be looking for her own employment now. She is a former petroleum engineer; I'll be happy to pass on any leads if anyone knows of any in Denver or Colorado Springs.

In a somewhat brighter note, Richard was enthusiastic about trying to bring sporting arrows (think trap for archery) to the local Boy Scout camp and the board at Pikes Peak Council has approved going forward with putting a system in at Camp Alexander. Unfortunately, while we have board approval, we'll need to buy the disk launcher, new bows, new flu-flu arrows (not cheap!), and a high backstop net. I'm thinking about putting in a donation at Pikes Peak Council honoring Richard to be specified for the sporting arrows system -- anyone else who is interested in doing something similar can contact me or the Council (probably talking to Jeremy Snook or Cameron Ackley).

Very tragic!

However, I am confused about the whole thing.

I understand the man and van went missing on March 18, yet the only reference to the case I can find are the threads here on ar-15.co- no media coverage at all???

So the van sat in the Aurora Sams Club parking lot for a month, with a body inside, and nobody noticed? Wouldn't the PD checkout a vehicle that has not moved for weeks and run the plates, especially since they were supposed to be looking for it?

I am confused too .455_Hunter.... That's absolutely inexcusable. The Sam's Club employees and local Law Enforcement should be ashamed of themselves.

Edit after the fact: ok, I concede "ashamed of themselves" is premature and improperly directed at LEO. Its implausible for them to monitor all parking lots for stationary vehicles. However, if the van has been in the parking lot for a month, the employees should be, especially those who close down the store each night.... I cannot imagine more than a few days passing by, leaving to a near-empty lot and not noticing the van.

I know the wife posted info on a Denver news channel's site approx Mar 29 but had sketchy info at the time -- including some that I think turned out to be bad (like someone other than him used his credit card an hour after he left the rental lot). I"m quite sure his wife was stressed and the thought of putting something on Facebook was stressing her more as she didn't want to get direct calls. I am not going to say anyone should be ashamed of themselves until I see evidence they should have.

Maybe the van sat there a long time -- maybe it didn't. If something nefarious happened, the perps could have taken the van and him somewhere, did what they were going to do, then dumped the van as info on the van started to filter out. On the other hand, assume the incident was natural and he had a stroke or something in the van in the parking lot; if that's the case, I'm curious about why it took so long to check out a van parked there for so long but maybe they have an employee with a similar vehicle who did that regularly? I have parked my vehicle at work for weeks on end because it was easier and cheaper to catch a cab to the airport from work than to drive and pay 3+ weeks worth of parking fees.

If blame is deserved, that info will come out. In the meantime, I'm sorry he's gone and glad the family knows for sure instead of being left wondering.

May he rest in peace.
And may the family find peace and comfort.

A store employee noticed the van had been in the same spot for 4 days and then notified APD. Listed as a "non-suspicious death, no threat to the public", APD contacted news organizations on Monday.

Sad none the less, condolences to the family and friends.

A passenger van in a Sam's or Walmart parking lot may not attract much attention for a while. Especially if it was at the Sam's on Abilene, which is right next to at least one hotel. [Dunno]

Edit to add: I am also running under the assumption that he was not visible to casual passers by (i.e.; not slumped over the wheel, etc.)

All said, tragic as it all is, I am thankful that his family and friends may now at least find some closure in the matter. This was/is a horrible situation.

I find it absurd that I saw no news coverage of it asking for people to be on the lookout. However, every news channel had several stories a day for several days about dope smoking 420 idiots and going ons. Pathetic. I HATE local news.

You would think he would have received some news coverage; even after they were contacted multiple times. For anyone that is interested;

Keep in mind that places like Sam's Club, Costco, etc., probably have night crews working in there all night between closing and opening. I works nights at five different Home Depot stores, those places are NEVER completely dark and empty, there's always somebody there doing freight, stocking, merchandising, etc. I sure as hell wouldn't notice a vehicle sitting unmoved for days, unless it was a vehicle I had an interest in like something old or cool.

Which I'm guessing wouldn't be a passenger van.

Yeah, the media masturbation about pot smoking is getting real old. Yeah, the stoners can smoke dope here now, BFD. But the constant pushing and shoving by all media sources to report every frigging detail and "story" is disgusting. Kinda makes me ashamed to live here now.
