Country star Tim McGraw just went full retard...

COUNTRY SINGERS TIM MCGRAW, BILLY CURRINGTON HEADLINING GUN CONTROL FUNDRAISEROn July 17, country singers Tim McGraw and Billy Currington will headline a fundraiser for gun control group Sandy Hook Promise in Connecticut.Sandy Hook Promise was founded after Adam Lanza stole various firearms then carried out a heinous attack on Sandy Hook Elementary.
NBC Connecticut (http://www.nbcconnecticut.com/news/local/Tim-McGraw-to-Perform-Concert-for-Sandy-Hook-Promise-299566731.html) quoted McGraw as saying:

Out of this tragedy a group was formed that made a promise to honor the lives lost and turn it into a moment of transformation. Sandy Hook Promise teaches that we can do something to protect our children from gun violence. I want to be a part of that promise – as a father and as a friend.
McGraw’s “A Concert For Sandy Hook Promise” will also feature country singers Billy Currington and Chase Bryant.
On December 15, Breitbart News reported (http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2014/12/15/newtown-father-dedicates-his-life-to-gun-control/) that Sandy Hook Promise is a vehicle through which various relatives of Sandy Hook victims have joined to push gun control until it passes. Newtown father Mark Bearden joined the group pledging to “dedicate the rest of his life” to pursuing gun control.
It should be noted that there was 100 percent gun control at Sandy Hook Elementary on December 14, 2012. No guns were allowed, period. You can’t have more gun than that. Moreover, there were laws against stealing guns and possessing stolen guns as well. But none of these laws stopped or even dissuaded Adam Lanza.
Gun control renders law-abiding citizens defenseless, but it does nothing to stop criminals from carrying out their treachery. Because of this, the money McGraw and Currington raise will ultimately succeed in making it harder for law-abiding citizens to acquire and carry the guns they need for self-defense.
Story (http://www.breitbart.com/big-hollywood/2015/04/14/country-singers-tim-mcgraw-billy-currington-headlining-gun-control-fundraiser/)
Not to say anything to the intelligence of the Sandy Hook victims and their families, but at what point on 12/14/12 do they think more laws would have stopped Lanza? How about the law against murder? Oh that already exists. What about stealing guns? Nope, already there. How about bringing guns onto school property? Darn, already have that one too. Seems to me these people aren't for "gun control" they're for "full gun prohibition."

Meh, IMO a majority of celebrities are anti freedom and such behavior is to be expected.

I just can't imagine they could pay him enough money to offset what he's going to lose by pissing all over 90% of his fan base. No, I suspect he's a true believer.

The backlash I'm already seeing all over social media is stating that early reports state that he's alienating most of his fans with this move... Will be entertaining to see his career fail.

He's been sniffing around the left for awhile. I hear stories about comments, or this or that. I'm actually happy he's coming out and doing this. Now everybody knows where he stands. It's career suicide. like mentioned above, ask the dixie chicks.

Modern country is nothing more than pop music with a southern drawl. It's actually funny because when every other person with an accent sings in English they lose said accent, the Brits don't sound like they just got done eating tea and crumpets.

It bothers him, Toby Keith says, that when his name is mentioned, it isn't in connection with his nearly 40 top-10 country hits nor his awards as the top songwriter and country artist of the past decade.

It's about what people presume to be his politics.

"People just read the headlines and glance at the story and they don't ever absorb the real thing," Keith said in a recent wide-ranging, 30-minute telephone interview from Sacramento, Calif.

Most of that comes from his 2002 hit, "Courtesy of the Red, White & Blue (The Angry American)," a song supporting the U.S. troops that had its roots in the patriotism of his late father.

"If you're an average Joe, you never heard about me or that the one-eyed soldier that I write about - my dad - were Democrats and that his father was a Democrat. There's never been a Republican in my family tree. You never heard that. People assume you're a right-wing nut Republican," Keith said. "You just scratch your head and think, ‘You can't fight them all, just let them think what they want to think.' "

The 49-year-old Keith even went so far as to remove himself from the Democratic Party last year and register as an independent.

"My Democratic Party betrayed me, and I got lost somewhere along the way," he said. "The Democratic Party really let me down by not embracing me as a Democrat. Since when did it become anti-American to support the troops? And that's the only Republican bone I had in my body."

Since then, he said, he's been lumped in with conservative electronic media pundits such as Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity.

"I've got one song that says our government is shipping a bunch of our volunteers in the military in response to 9/11, and I'm pulling for you and want you to win, so go get ‘em," Keith said. "I don't have a daily program bashing liberals. At the end of the day, you just have to say I said what I believed in and I said what I meant. There's nothing Republican in my family."

I saw an interview with McGraw years ago when he said he thinks Clinton should have been crowned King of America. I see he's still anti-American and anti-freedom. Good to see Allan Jackson did a show at the NRA convention.

Keith also hates drunk people, although a lot of his music and money comes from bars and drinking. He openly endorsed Obama. It's enough for me to never donate money to him. Tim McGraw I could care less about anyways, screw him. McGraw will get most of his money from the gay city fans anyways so this won't have as big of an impact to him as it would to like a Chris ledoux. The fucktards that listen to his crap are afraid of guns. Now blake Shelton would take a big hit for doing something like that, he is better anyways but a lot of his fan base are hunters and gun owners.

Apparently billy currington is contractually obligated to do the show but isn't happy about it. He tweeted some stuff but then later deleted it.

Toby Keith has said before that he and his family were dyed-in-the-wool Democrats although he switched affiliation to "Independent" because he was taking so much crap from Dems assuming he was a Republican over "Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue". A cowgirl I once had a crush on told me 21 years ago "Garth Brooks ain't country". Give me Alan Jackson and George Strait and the Oak Ridge Boys any day.

I just saw Breitbart reported on this... Seems to me, and I'm not 100% positive, that Currington was on tour with Tim and got booked to do this without realizing what it was really all about. I could be wrong and it could just be he's only backing out after the back lash.

Upside, if this is true:

Modern country is nothing more than pop music with a southern drawl.

This might not be as true as we'd think:

he's going to lose by pissing all over 90% of his fan base.

you just alienated about 75% of your fan base.

I listen to the country stations on rare occasion, and don't mind "hot, new country!" (or pop, as it were), but I've always thought Tim McGraw was cut from the Dixie Chicks cloth anyway, myself. I've long been skeptical.

It really hasn't been a secret that Tim McGraw is a supporter of hard leftist statism. He is a studio cowboy charlatan who is part of the hollywood elite. I believe Paisley is another one.

ZERO THEORY
04-17-2015, 19:47
Whatever. "Country" music sucks. Driving a late-model Silverado and slapping a Browning sticker on it doesn't make you a cowboy. Modern "country" is pop music for city slickers who don't think they can pull off the hipster lifestyle, so they buy a pair of Wranglers and a flannel shirt and pretend they're from the sticks.

Give me bluegrass or true western.

True Country isn't Western at all. The vast majority of real Country Music has it's origins east of the Mississippi River. Same with Bluegrass.

ETA: Texas breaks this norm...Bob Wills, and all...but a LOT of early classic country is far from "western".

crays
04-17-2015, 20:24
Further reflection would have me add eastern Kansas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. West of the ole Mississip, for sure, and maybe that's where the "Western" designation comes from, but that was some time ago.
