View Full Version : Can you do a cartwheel?
I've found that my kids (7 and 8 year-old girls) can't really do cartwheels. I feel like that was something I learned in school from other kids, and my parents didn't teach to me. I guess I just grew up assuming that little girls were born knowing how to do somersaults, cartwheels, and hand stands. I guess not.
So who can still do a cartwheel? It feels kind of awkward as an adult.

Hiya Irving.
Never could do one.
Well, it's never too late to start!
Just tried it in my hotel room, I'd call it a success although not the prettiest form!

Are you the one that broke a lamp and the nightstand at the Cleveland Crown Plaza the other day? Knock that shit off! They're gonna kick us out if you keep breaking shit!

I have good health insurance. I don't have great health insurance. I think my plan has a "did some stupid shit" exclusion so I better not try...but I am tempted. Another shot of bourbon and who knows what might happen?

it was not I!

Me too. Like a Special Olympics hopeful. Probably not quite good enough to compete there anyways.

I used to be good at all the tumbling exercises. I dated a gymnast in high school and taught me.
I have taught the older minions(8-10 yr olds) basic tumbling exercises and stretching exercises.
Good way to wear them out and burn off their excess energy.
I told the wife I was going to try cart wheels in the living room.
Let's just say that was not a good idea.
I can still do them along with a round-off. I can do them better than my 12 year old boy

Are you sure you fell and the wife didn't give you a little shove?

Asking, or trying?
Pics would be a plus. Video...even better.

Hey...I was helping with laundry. Guess I might have needed a little motivation.
She blamed on "the Shadow People".
Cartwheels? Are you insane?

Asking.
I asked if she had her keys handy in case I crash.
She said no but her revolver is handy to put me down like a horse with broken leg if I tried cart wheels in the house.[emoji33]

I did a cartwheel in a CAT 980 loader once, that count?

It was a semi-requirement in our Karate class. Cartwheel then jumping Side Kick in one motion. I actually pulled a good cartwheel out of it and never did them again. It was tough as a kid doing them too.
I don't think either of my kids can do them. Maybe my son from Karate class the same day, but none after that.
I did one (or many) once getting bounced out of the bed of a Rancho on a country lane.
I can still do one. Also a round off and a back handspring... It didn't feel good the last time I did a handspring though so my years of that are done... Stupid spine

Don't try and change the subject from whether you can do a cartwheel or not.

Does doing a cartwheel from eight rungs up a ladder count? I did land on my feet before continuing to the ground and was not injured other than a bruised ego.
Easy Jackie Chan, this is just about ground cartwheels.

Yep. Multiples too. You can really pick up some incredible momentum when you do like 10 in a row. I can also do front & back flips & hand springs, dive rolls, etc. [Coffee]
I can only do flips on trampolines and diving boards. I'm positive I could do a backflip off a wall if I put my mind to it, but I'd hurt myself before I overcame the mental block.

Just to ease the pain for Irving on the topic of girl stuff like cartwheels and hula hooping lol. I was in the marching band in highschool. (I know ... I know.. but hey, i was a snare drummer at least). And obviously dated the color guard girls. well, I got to the point where I could throw 5's and 6's with the color guard rifles lol... which most of the girls couldnt do haha.................sigh.....
but anyway, havent tried a cartwheel, but Im guessing it's possible. I've been stuck on 24 broken bones in my life for a few years, and always wanted to make it to 25. I'll let ya know how it goes lol
If you have an Android phone, there is a good chance there is a slow motion setting on your video recorder. Don't just set it to slow motion, set it to 8x slow motion. Just a tip!

I remember the color guard girls as being too fat to be cheerleaders and not smart enough for band... to each their own.

HAHAHA. We were a 5A school, who competed nationally every year. 160+ member band etc. The stuff the girls in our guard were doing was waaaaaaay more athletic than what cheer leaders do. Don't get me wrong, there were a few "slower"
girls but the ones the drummers dated were always cherry ;) lol

Easy Jackie Chan, this is just about ground cartwheels.
It was not intentional. I'm glad the siding I was holding was all ready partially nailed up.
I don't understand why performing cartwheel is so difficult.
Riding a mountain bike up the north side of North Table mountain, now that is difficult because it is so steep.
Haven't tried in a long time but I know I can still do them... Not good form but enough to pass this challenge

Yep, never had an issue with not being able to do one.
I never could do one. I am not about to try one now.
I have never understood why anyone would want to do one.
Yep, although it's been a number of years and it wouldn't be pretty. I can hula hoop- tried that last year.
I really wasn't one to do "girlie" stuff in gymnastics.
There is a time in in every man's life when his ass should no longer go over his head.
