Anyone have experience using the 115grn 6mm Berger VLD bullets for long distance? What twist barrel would you recommend?
I have a buddy in Northern California that uses them on hogs at 600 yards and beyond. He loads extremely hot and loves them at that distance. I'll get ahold of him and see if I can get his twist rate and load specs for you.

I use the Berger 105 grain hybrids in my 6mm Creedmoor and they shoot great at distance. I use H4350 in that cartridge.

I have 200 of them and I'm thinking of at least finding a barrel for them and building up a rifle. Otherwise they just take up space and money. I've read that these are the cats meow for long range.
Look into barrel life and availability of brass before you get into it.
this will be a good read for you ... http://precisionrifleblog.com/2013/12/17/best-rifle-caliber-what-the-pros-use/
at our altitude, you could be fine with 1:8, I'd go tighter (Berger says 1:7), if your barrel doesn't like them- 105's/107's should still be fine in a 7.xx twist. I guess a definition of what "long distance" is can be somewhat relative? As can expected performance in difficult conditions...

I've got lots of .243 brass and a savage 99 already. Thinking of getting a precision bolt gun in this caliber.

I smiled initially when I read "I have a little box of projectiles, so I need to build an expensive rifle to expend them"
:D:D
it it could be from the pain meds and my recent surgery, too. [Ban1]

Still have the bullets. Never loaded a single one yet but I may try them in my 1:8 twist bolt gun.

Depends on you 8 twist. It should be real close to stabilizing. Not all 8 twists are a true 8. Could be 7.9, or 8.1. May be your determining factor.
