View Full Version : Watch out: EAA's magazine policy sucks
I bought an EAA Pavona for the up and coming Women on Target clinic in Colorado Springs. Been a fan of the Witness series and especially the Witness Compact with the current magazine restrictions in place. The Pavona I thought would make an excellent addition to the line for women to try.
The Pavona only comes with one 13rd mag (remember that number, 13!), which I was aware of when I ordered it, but look what happened when I went to order more magazines from EAA:

Dear <name>
Attached please find Pick List <number>.
We have a company policy of NO magazines over 10rds to the state of CO. We can change your order to
sku#101930-10rd that will fit your pistol. You could also try MIDWAY USA 573-445-6363 to purchase the 13rd
magazines. We will wait for your response.
Thank you

Hmmmm, hopefully it's just a case of some education/instruction for the manufacturer? Good luck... Keep us posted.
I replied with a copy of the pertinent CRS section defining high capacity magazine as over 15 rounds. We'll see if the cranial-rectal inversion is corrected.

Could you review your policy? Attached is Colorado Revised Statutes 18-12-301 which defines a large capacity magazine as more than fifteen (15) rounds. See 18-12-301 (2)(a)(I), highlighted in red, below if your mail system supports the font and coloring.
So a 13 round magazine is perfectly legal, which is one reason I bought a Pavona in the first place!
Please review your magazine policy about shipping over 10 round magazines to Colorado. As an NRA instructor I have been recommending your Witness Compact and Pavona because they're within the current restrictions. That recommendation will cease if in fact your company will not ship perfectly legal magazines to Colorado!
No, I do not wish a 10 round magazine when a 13 round magazine is perfectly legal in Colorado.
If your company is unwilling to ship a perfectly legal 13 round magazine to Colorado, could you at least give me the correct part number/SKU for the 13 round 9mm magazine for the Pavona?

New flash EAA Customer service sucks ass. Their poor customer service is a major reason why I moved away from using their guns in competition. Them deploying a "10 Round only" rule is 100% laziness on their part.

Frankly the Turkish made Caniks are significantly better quality CZ75 clones than the Tanfoglio/EAA guns. I'd put them on par with the Czech made originals. A guy I work with has bought two C100s (http://www.canik55.com/pages_sub.php?id=11&module_type=2&module_id=14)and they're very nice. Every bit as nice as the Czech made CZ75 SA I own. They're often sold in the US under the name TriStar (http://tristararms.com/pistol-c-100.php).
In the last couple decades I've been into firearms I've never heard anyone say anything nice about EAA.
There are a couple on Armslist in CO right now, one C100 (CZ75 compact clone) http://www.armslist.com/posts/1391576/denver-colorado-handguns-for-sale--cz-75-alternative--tri-star-canik-55-c-100--
and one "Shark" (Baby Eagle compact clone) http://www.armslist.com/posts/4141110/denver-colorado-handguns-for-sale--canik-55-shark-c--blued-finish-
Only downside is they don't make polymer CZ clones (they do however make some Walther P99 clones in poly that are priced well and have reviewed well).

Sheeeit, I have a Witness Match Elite which is pure sexy and an unbelievable shooter.
Their customer service is why I don't have their 10mm. That and they have terrible ads in the magazines.

Thank you for taking the time to educate them.
Talk to your ass and your head hurts.
I tried doing the same thing with the shop in Nebraska.
They didn't give a hoot.

Yhea, but we both tried. That gives us the right to legitimately whine, rather than most that don't even try to educate and skip straight to the whining! :)
