This report says that there have definitely been three people's cars shot (one injuring a woman), and one possible (a "projectile" hit a Larimer County jail van). Additionally I was just hearing on the radio that a fifth victim has had their car's window shot out.

Be alert in the Northern Colorado area around Loveland, Windsor, Greeley, etc near I-25ish.

I'm gonna go ahead and guess that statistically, you have a much higher risk of a car accident on I-25 than you do being shot.

If you're aiming at a vehicle moving approx 75mph, or based on that stretch and the drivers 45 mph [facepalm]. I find it hard to believe they are using a small caliber like a 22 of any variety.

I was heading south on 25 last night about 4:30ish and going up the hill at the Berthoud exit there was a sheriff pulled over behind a Dodge pu with the back glass gone. Driver was in in sheriffs car. About an hour later my employee was heading that way and there were a few news crews around that area and more police. I didn't catch any news. Any one hear anything on this? Any relation to the story?

"Thursday evening, an abandoned truck on the side of I-25 near Berthoud was towed after it was found with its rear window shattered. Troopers were concerned the truck may be linked to the other incidents. As the vehicle was being towed, the owner showed up on the scene and told troopers that a lug nut caused the damage. I've seen back glass on a car shatter before with a lug coming off an 18 wheeler.. that or a wheel weight that came off.

My best guess would be, passenger vehicle in front of semi, lug nut comes loose, forward momentum of wheel launches lug nut towards passenger vehicle at a faster rate of speed than is being traveled and viola.

I'm not a physicist tho, and barely passed high school algebra, so I could be completely wrong.

I passed through there twice today. Got a nasty chip in my windshield on the way up and got another one on the way back.

Pretty sure I wasn't shot at. Just seems like there was a fair amount of rocks or gravel through that stretch of highway.

Interesting story: About seven years ago my fiance (now wife) was driving her parents Suburban on that stretch of I-25 (southbound). I was following, her driver's side window suddenly shattered. She pulled over and we never really gave it much thought. I'm still sure it was just a rock or something.

My guess is that it is some sniper wannabe and he's setting up near the road 100 meters out or more.

That thought had also crossed my mind. A similar tactic was used to conceal a murder via 'random' product tampering, a la Stella Nickell and the Excedrin tampering back in 1986.

That truck has either been repainted or chop shopped. More than likely a stolen unit, seeing how it's something that stands out. Even in a crime ridden part of town. Some tweaker would drop a dime on them.
