I wanted to ask a question but not derail the other thread...

Is RMGO a CMP affiliated club? Was it ever?

I could have sworn I saw them on the list last year, but I was looking this morning and don't see RMGO or anything with "Rocky Mountain" in the club search. I do not partake of the official state plant, but I am getting older.

I am finally getting everything together to place an order with the CMP and thought I had all the eligibility requirements met. Guess that's what I get for slacking...

I don't think so. It's not a club, it's a political organization.
However, this forum is/was a qualifying club, though I don't see it on the list right now. Maybe we dropped it.

The CSSA (Colorado State Shooting Assoc - Colorado's NRA affilitate) is an approved club. Membership is $30.

www.cssa.org

Or, if you're a vet, the VFW or American Legion are approved clubs.

Checked out cssa and that's what I'm doing. Thank you! I'm already an NRA member so it makes sense.

I wonder if cmp revised their club requirements recently?

I don't know... I tried searching for CMP here on this site, but couldn't find anything about the situation changing. I think CMP membership was one of the reasons I finally signed up vs. lurking, but maybe I'm remembering incorrectly.

I know this "club" was CMP-affiliated when I first "joined" 10 years ago but I never saw a way to get a membership card or other documentation that CMP wants to verify your membership (not that it mattered as my then-active duty military ID and membership in the Garand Collectors Association sufficed). Members here should be aware that active duty or retired members of the military qualify for the CMP simply by sending a scan or photocopy of their IDs in. Of course, there's that whole "do not copy your ID" instruction but I doubt the CMP is going to use their membership files to falsify ID cards.

If I remember correctly, I sent Roger H. a couple bucks for the hassle and he sent me a signed CMP club certificate with my name on it.

I joined the Garand Collectors Association. $25 per year and a quarterly newsletter with all kinds of useful information.

I also joined the Garand collectors association. Joined a couple years ago, they sent their new DVD which was also a good deal.

I regret having ever become a RMGO member. After RMGO failed to stop the 2013 legislation and any repeals, I stopped renewing ~2015 after making this thread. I cannot get RMGO/NAGR (of which I've never been a member) to stop spamming me.

I opt out every two weeks only to get more spam. I have even emailed Katie and asked for this to stop. She promised it would. It hasn't.

It's obvious RMGO/NAGR is intentionally ignoring their unsubscribes.

My advise is NEVER give any Dudley Brown org your info!

As an update to this thread I became a member of the Colorado State Shooting Association to satisfy the CMP requirements. It was easy, cheap, and they seem to be a great org.

I thought we dropped it a few years ago.

Join Garand Collectors Associates. It's $25 or $30 a year and you get a quarterly magazine. They also automatically keep your information updated with CMP.

I clearly didn't read all the posts when I responded.

They always do, LOL.

Should have just said, NO, don't give RMGO anything.

No sir, lock and load.

If the thread dies it's one less opportunity the Dud has to spam.
