I'm doing a little informal research here. Please tell us what pistol you use for IDPA. I'd also like to know what holster and mag pouch(s) you use.

Three main guns.

STI Tactical in 9x19. ESP
Beretta M9 in 9x19. SSP
Steyr M9 in 9x19. SSP

All live in Blade Tech holsters and single mag pouches.

A have shot a match with my M9 and Safariland 6005 which is my duty holster. Good training, but not nearly as much fun as a regular old belt holster.

IWI Baby Eagle .40 S&W full size
Home made kydex/leather IWB holster - tucked for every shoot
1 mag in an old knife holster
Third mag in my back pocket

Basically I shoot/compete like I carry all day every day with the exception to my third mag and loaded to capacity, not IDPA max of 10.

IMO everyone should shoot the matches like they carry on a day to day basis (for those that are CCW enabled), right down to their most common wardrobe, providing it meets IDPA regs and safety. I.E. no cross draw, shoulder, apendix ,or small of back holsters. Ladies should probably not be shooting in heels.

If I was still an office dwelling desk jockey, I'd be hitting up goodwill for an old suit and dress shoes.

But I am in it more for the practice and training, rather than compettition. I want to hammer home the muscle memory and skills for IF (may the gods forbid) I ever need to use it.

First time out, an old 1911. From then on out, a Sig P220 with the Bladetech/5.11 Revolution holster (absolutely love it) and Bladetech mag pouches. The 220 is the stainless Elite model with rail and trigger guard hook removed, and with beavertail shortened by about .2", coming it at just over 40 1/2 oz. with solid stainless spring guide and mainspring boot. I'm not yet convinced this gun will ever be a limiting factor in my practical shooting performance.

Sig 220 in Comp-TAC C-TAC holster
Sig 229 in same type of holster
Have also used a locking paddle with the above guns.

- Baby Glock G27 - 40S&W
- Pearson grip extensions that allows for 10 shot clips and gives a place for the pinky!
- Fobus paddle holster for both gun and spare clips.
