A mother of a teen boy beats the living Jeebus out of him when she catches him involved in the Baltimore rioting.

decent story.. but I hate the fact that we're calling her the mother of the year for raising a kid who masked up to go loot, steal and vandalize, just because she showed up to the parenting game at the 2 minute warning in the fourth quarter...

You can only lead a horse to water, as the saying goes.
Be honest now, so how many times when you were at that age did you do something and not get caught, that your parents would have given you the same kind of beat down if they would have caught you doing it ?

Yeah, but if I'd have been involved with that kind of activity, my mother would have just shot me, she may have made it a wounding shot but I would bet money I'd have needed medical attention one way or the other.

Good for her

And her bank account. CBS scored the first of many $$ interviews with her.

I heard about it on the radio this afternoon. I say good for her for trying to raise that boy right. And lucky him for having a mother that cares enough about him to try to steer him straight.

nostalgic: like times when parents were parents. Parents would give you so much loving it hurt (often physically), you almost could not survive it.

Saw it this morning. I don't know about mother of the year but I applaud her for trying to do something right with the "kid".

Single Moms have it tough and she can't be there all the time. This is what happens when there's not a Dad around to kick a boys tail - unfortunately pretty much the story of the urban black communities these days.

It really has nothing to do with color. Theres just a shortage of men willing to be a good father in this country.

Strong women are all the same. My Irish mom once whipped my tail good when I thought I was all big and bad. My dad, who was one who was not afraid to kick my tail when needed did not have the chance when I disrespected mom with him in the room. Mom grabbed a wire flyswatter and beat the rap out of me. Dad could not help but laugh at me being taken down a few pegs by my 5'3" mother. After she stormed off, I though he was going the reinforce the lesson I had just learned. He just laughed and said, "I bet you don't do that again!" Strong moms are strong moms. That is what the world needs more of.

Good for her, what the kid needs is a full on beat down from his dad, but he probably needed that 8-10 years ago.

Had she raised him right, he would have not been out in the streets to begin with.

But that aside, good for her and furthermore it probably was good for the kid. Who knows, maybe Mama just saved his life.

Agree with Sniper, the kid is 16 from what I have gleaned. The whuppin is probably ten years overdue.

she wasn't being a good mother, she only did it because she was afraid he might be killed by the cops. She did it out of fear for his life, but again, maybe that is being a "good" mother.
I agree, if she had really been a good mother, her son wouldn't have been there to start with.

Moms have it tough when they don't learn not to have a kid they can't afford, and it's even tougher when they don't learn the second, third, fourth, fifth, nor SIXTH time as this particular "mom" has done.

She's a single mother of SIX kids and we should have sympathy for her? I don't think so. She's already got my tax dollars. She's already perpetuated this system 6 times, and I wonder how long it'll be before she's a grandmother, if she's not already.

The incredible thing is that during one of her interviews, she was actually articulate, insightful, and spoke with passable syntax. Something which that traitor pos senator elijah cummings couldn't even do when he was interviewed.

I'm sure you are reading it correctly, as nothing surprises me from some of the members here lately.

I had a big ol paragraph typed out in response to some of the people here, but decided it wasn't worth getting into it with anyone.

I will say this however, to all of you that keep spouting off "if she would have raised him correctly to begin with", how the hell do you know the way she raised him? If you say him rioting clearly shows the way she raised him, you are full of crap. I can go on for days with examples of children that were raised in households that were picture perfect, wholesome, "white America" households, and there was STILL a $hitbag that came from the bunch. One of my brother's was that "$hitbag", and he died at 26 because of it. Don't ever assume you know the way a person is raised, or how a household is ran.
