So they called me for the 1000th time. I pressed one, and proceeded to give the a spill about how this number is being tracked, and that he is being recorded. The guy on the other end broke down and said he was from Pakistan, and the company was a scam. He claimed he was being enslaved, and that they took his passport along with the passports of the other people there, (according to him Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, and Mexico, he claimed 200 total) He gave me a number for the main office, but said he had only been there 3 days which he hadn't been allowed to leave. He said his location was in Atlanta,Ga. He then begged me for help saying that they were threatening to turn him in as a terrorist if he didn't continue to work. I just said if you call this number again we will be forced to take action, and you will be involved. He was crying in the end, and I hear this lady talking in the background, and he said he had to go...Over all conversation was around 10 minutes.. Mostly me trying to pick him for more info. What would you do? The number he gave me was 1800-847-2911. I feel bad for the guy, but, in reality I hope they never call my number again. I was getting awoke at 6am on weekends, or they would call while I am with clients etc...
File a complaint on the National Do Not Call list website and give them all of the info you gathered. There isn't much else you can do beyond that.

He probably came here with negative intentions (for the average American, or American taxpayer). Shit happens.
If he came here with the best of intentions, he would be scott free and they wouldn't have any leverage over him. Fuck you, turn me in! Why would a normal person say anything but that when trying to be enslaved?
Why wouldn't you walk away at the airport when you get off the plane?

I have and nothing gets done. They spoof the numbers...

Sounds like you think he was telling the truth? (Sounds like he may have been?) You could call a non-emergency number for the Atlanta PD.
The government treats these scam artists just like they do the southern border. Nada, zip, zilch, zero action.

You sound like you were expecting them to know something about the crazy person that called?

Hahahahahaha this dude totally fed you a line and you took the bait whole!
i get calls from them but just save the number and block it. If I answer a new number they are using and am bored I'll press 1, listen to them for a minute, feed them a line about huge debt to get them interested, then ask them a question, like if they see a tall tree, then ask them to tie a rope around their neck and hang themselves for being worthless fucks and go on a rant until they hang up. It's actually a nice stress reliever.
Should've given him another number. It's called 911.

I get calls at least once a day ever since I refinanced my house. I don't know if it was Bellco or Wellsfargo that sold my info.

The reason being the call centers originate outside the US. The DNC list applies to US based call centers. BTDT

Anyone calling me from a number I don't recognize better leave voicemail as I rarely answer unknown numbers.

Yup, if it's important you'll leave a voice mail.

neither the companies get the info from public records, they monitor to find out which homes have been sold or refinanced by the deeds being filed with the county. they can get your number a hundred ways once they have your name and address.

THIS! I probably silence 4 calls a week. I even get a few local numbers that I've silenced and don't leave a message.

I was finally at home when one of these calls came through. I hit 1 to get the person, then when I was finally on with them, I put this on:

My boss got the call today. I was in his office when he answered it on speaker phone. It was Rachel from card services wanting to lower his interest rate. Made me think of this thread.
I probably get 5 - 10 of these Robocalls every week on my work issued cell phone. I add these phone numbers to the "Blocked Number" list on my phone and that keeps them from calling me from the same phone number, but there seems to be an endless list of bogus phone numbers they use. 99% of the time, if I hang up on the Robocall then immediately try to call the number on the caller ID it comes up as a disconnected number.
The phone companies know how and where these calls are coming from and they COULD do something about minimizing or reducing the Robocalls, but they could give a crap less because they make money on cell usage minutes every time you get suckered into answering these Robocalls. The FTC saying that its out of their control is total laziness on their part. They could start shutting down out of country IP's or whole subnets every time its leveraged for Robocalls. Eventually these Robocall chumps would run out of IP's to make cheap Ethernet based international Robocalls. Once countries run out of IP's or Subnets that have access to the US they should start policing the Robocall stuff on their own because the loss of US internet access would start to dramatically impact all US internet based business.
This stuff could be stopped but there is nothing financially to motivate the phone companies or the government to actually do something. They get paid the same, if not more to let everything chug along as it is.

Since the incident I have recieved no calls from rachael....:)
Since the incident I have recieved no calls from rachael....:)
Now ow I can see how that wou work lol.
I have a slightly different approach.
Rachel: Hi this is Rachel from blah blah how are you today?
Me: Much better now that you called cutie
Rachel: uh thanks, the reason for the call today is Blah Blah Blah
Me: damn girl you sound sexy as all hell.
Rachel: Uh
Me: so where you calling from sexy
Rachel Um our call center is located in blah blah.
Me: so how about I fly you to Denver and we can have dinner?
Rachel: well why I called today was because blah blah blah great opportunity.
Me: well I'm giving you a great opportunity to find out why fwomen as fine as yourself becomes breathless when visiting Colorado, it's not the Altitude [Coffee]
Rachel: Ummm well Blah blah blah blah
Me: So cutie what are you wearing?
Rachel: click
or sometimes I get a guy on the line and I act like I can't hear him and I act like I'm trying to get to a spot where I can hear him, if time permits I will play that out for about 15 before I ask them to call back. If they do call back and it's the same guy I will simply say that I thought he was the guy calling about Russian mail order bride and I wasn't interested in blah blah.
Their is a couple of pages of comments for this number here- http://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/8008472911
Seems like they work hard and make many calls. They also seem to have a collection of ploys.
