Based on the temp, humidity and "predictions" we have the generators on standby. So it will be a nothing storm or no power for a few hours, maybe.

4pm and east of Monument had 6 inches on Highway 105 making it almost impassable. People were stuck on the hills and couldn't get from I-25 to Highway 83
This morning near the same area there was 6 inches of hail on the road and near impassable. Some forecasts are putting this area at possibly 10" and over of accumulation. That would be easy to surpass since 4 hours ago they were more than half way there and it is still snowing like it is on sale!

@ the Fedcenter in Lakewood it's coming down good and slowly starting to stick to parked cars but that's about it so far. If this keeps up it should be a fun ride home about 12am.

Hooked up the plow on the pickup just incase I need to use it in the am, since snow equal income I'm ok with it. If we do get what they claim there's going to be significant tree damage which also equals income.

Been wanting one of these long slow drizzles for over a month now. With any luck, it'll keep going for the next couple of weeks.

Starting to turn to snow out here finally.[fail]

We have had more than 6" rain in the last tree days and are pushing 10" for the last month. This is getting ridiculous out here.

Hwy north of us is closed and detoured in two places and the detour roads(rural county roads) are starting to erode as well. Spoke to my pops in next town west of us and he said there were couple detours around flooded out areas as well. All the "dry" creek beds in the area have been over their banks and the farmers are getting hit for some crop damage on the wheat.

Wonder if we are paying for the fact that the 2013 flood was mostly a non event for us. We did not even get that much rain during that time.

And now the wind is picking up. Had 3 power bumps in about the same number of minutes.

Going to get ugly if this keeps up.

Figures.

I have to fly out tomorrow.

Probably the hardest 3-4" of wet snow my wimpy blower has ever had to endure. Still swear at my wife and kids for buying a 5.5HP blower for me when I have to use it on the heavy stuff. I don't like presents unless it's on my list.

Power flickering here as well.....was standing outside when a Huge branch on a tree across the street said...... fuk it. It was pretty damn loud.

I'm no tree hugger, but it sucks to see trees suffer significant damage from heavy wet snows like this.

I regularly check the web cams along the Peak to Peak. The roads are cleared, looks like there wasn't the big dump hoped for in that area. Let it keep snowing, the state needs it bad everywhere.

I'm looking at a fresh layer of white stuff on the Grand Mesa. Good thing. The recent rains have saved us from what had become a serious drought earlier this year. Increased plant growth will help a lot of wildlife. Last year the moisture led to a bumper crop of quail on our farm. Looks like they'll do well again this year. Here's a pair on our tray feeder this week.

Water is life.

The crotch where it split appears to have had a rotten core. This is Highlands Ranch, so it's really not big enough for woodworking. On the positive side, it also wasn't big enough to hit the house or the car in the driveway.

Neighbor has a plum tree right next to this one and boy does it make a mess. Don't want another ash or a pine. I'm thinking some variety of oak to replace this one.

Rub it in, rub it in...... I just finished up cleaning up the tree damage using a cordless sawzall and a 8" wood blade.
Used the time between charging the batteries to pile and bundle the branches for curb side pick up on trash day.
I need new batteries, they are spending more time charging than cutting.

And damn, DeWalt batteries are expensive ! Has anybody tried the cordless tool battery rebuilders that advertise for 1/2 the price of new ones ?

Two brand new apple trees put in last year, both are cracked and split. Crap. Now I'm wondering if I bought the "insurance" or not... probably not since I'm a cheapskate.

Neighbor's tall aspen clump appears to have snapped in a couple places - half fell on his bay window and half fell across my fence, broke one of the split rails. Lots of trees in the open space area behind us seem busted up with limbs all over the place.

At least I remembered to pull the jeep into the garage. I wonder how much heavy snow that soft top can take before it splits open. Don't really want to find out.
