Waiting list to join forum?

Quick question for the mods or anyone in the know. I recommended the site to a good friend and he has applied. He told me that he is still awaiting an approval message a day or so later. Is there a waiting list now? I don't recall having to wait longer than a few hours to get a message with a confirmation link to allow a login. Thanks.

All members require manual approval after some issues in the past. Time for approval is based on availability of the staff members that review and approve. Usually pretty quick.

I check on all of the new user accounts every day (at least once a day). To control spammer access to the site, no account is activated until it has bern checked out. If required information is missing from a new members profile or there is a question about their account, I send then an email requesting they add the information, or provide it back to me via the site email, or address the question I have about their account. I give new members 48 hours from the time I email them to either update the missing info or provide it to me. If neither happens in the 48 hours, the account it deleted. The email I send them clearly states this 48 hour limit for action. The effort is somewhat labor intensive, but it has drastically reduced spammer activity on the site.

If your friends account still isn't active, you should inform him/her to check their email ASAP.
